In the EU, how it works is, Luxemburg has just as much voting power as Britain. And Liechtenstein. And Belgium.

nope...
sorry to open your narrow minded brain.

http://www.euractiv.com/section/sustainable-dev/opinion/new-council-voting-means-germany-is-europe-s-reluctant-paymaster/

I realised that this would possibly declared as "tl;dr"
so here sth: since 2003 to 2014:
Luxemburg: 4
Britain: 29
Liechtenstein: ?!? wtf?
Belgium: 12

Leave. The EU is an institution full of corrupt lobbyists upholding the interests of the capitalist class, it is broken beyond repair. The idea of cooperation and a united Europe is good but not in the form of EU.

You see all sorts of complicated economic arguments for and against brexit but when it comes down to it, when I here people say they want to leave it is always to stop 'others' coming to the country. Misguided xenophobia.

Quite a few comments here that I have straight ignored but one I just couldn't. Derwyyy, in your mind how would leaving the EU stop refugees 'pooring' into Britain?

You do realise that none of the countries the refugees are from are in the EU anyway?

It's annoying how these right wing owned papers have managed to scare people into believing there is somehow a direct connection between brexit and the refugee crisis.

Anyway, Aside from refugees who I believe we have a moral responsibility to help, there is immigration, legal and illegal.

Illegal immigration obviously will be unaffected by brexit. They are crossing the border secretly.

Then there is legally! Immigration. More than. Half of the immigration here is from outside the EU so leaving the EU won't change that. For the other half from within the EU coming to this country will no doubt involve more paperwork but we aren't gonna suddenly stop French and Germans working here due to a bit if red tape. And why would we? An imigration of working tax payers is always a good thing.

On a separate note I feel safer knowing that if we as a country disagree with decisions made by our government we have a higher power to take it to. This power is more concerned with civil liberty and human rights than business and corporate interests.

You realise that disentangling ourselves from the EU would take years?

The EU is a corrupt, money-pit, which doesn't achieve the goal it was created for. The single market. Without development in services and greater flexibility of the EU as a whole, the system with further deteriorate :/

The EU needs flexibility over centralization.

The debate should be mostly on whether the EU can be reformed at all... That seems to be the issue that clearly divides a lot of well-informed people.

And if not, do the pros of being in the EU outweigh the cons?

Derwyyy. The refugees are from outside the EU. Our commitment to helping these people isn't going to change by leaving the EU. And thank fuck for that.
