What can be done about a player that just keeps doing the wrong things? During a game I am in, "Commander Dexter" is L34, he went to the saint peter and (?) archipelago islands off the east coast of South America. From the start I claimed this (oh, by the way, this is a diplomatic game) Later in the game he attacked that island I held all of south America. I told him he did this and he did it without warning (against diplomatic rules) He said he would pull out. The next round he did not pull out so when I attacked I lost troops along with the bonus 6 and 17. he still refuses to leave because he says it's not part of my bonus. He also said he has pulled his troops but he did not. He now is claiming war against me but this is ridiculous. Is there another punishment this player can have? outside of the game? I just don't understand this clear disregard for the rules. He is not understanding the game, the rules.

declare him PE. Everyone must attack him. Blacklist him. Or try explaining them to him.
(PS this should go under help forum)

I would love to blacklist him. I have explained over and over to him. private chat and public chat. I will copy-paste the HTML page link I hope that's what you need. again, his name is commander dexter. He mostly owns south africa but he as invade my south america (the islands that are part of the bonus to the south america bonus like Brazil bonus)

I hope that helps. After he attacked me without warning, he then waited the next turn because he said he would pull out. Then he did NOT pull out the next turn. Then I was nice again and explained diplomacy to him. Then he announced war against me and again did NOT give me warning. He announced it the same play he attacked me. I was being super-nice to him but he just doesn't get it. Please look at the public chat and watch history. He claims that he pulled out but I attacked too soon. That is NOT the case. I waited until my last turn. I am the highest troop earner in that game so I waited until my last move which was well past his last move, and he did not move so I lost troops and did not win the island back (st paul / st peter archipelago). He said he pulled out but he did not. If he pulled out then there would be 1 troop even if I attacked before his withdrawal but in fact there were 72 left because he had added troops there equalling I believe 118.

I selected "modify orders" because I was about to quit and give away my men to another player. Perhaps I will change them if you kind people are able to help me straighten him out. I have missed many troops now because of his invasion.

edit: ok, thank you, I found out how to report him and blacklist him and I told in public chat if others do not like his antics they can do the same.

It's a diplo. Rules are only guidelines just as they are in the real world. Or do you think countries always follow set rules when dealing with one another?

No rules of Warlight were broken so there is no point in reporting or taking the matter farther. Simple answer is to blacklist him and move on with your life and recall that people often break their word and the rules to get an advantage. It's part of life.

you always come across people that will blatantly break unofficial rules.

the best cure for this, is after you've played a few dozen games.. start making many of your unofficial games into invite-only, and invite people you know are good sports.

People are going to break the rules in diplos, it just happens. Sometimes it is accidental, sometimes it is intentional. I personally don't feel that either one is a reason for blacklisting.

Reasons I will blacklist a person:

1. Toxic, offensive, foul/abusive/disrespectful language directed at other players. a.k.a poor sportsmanship

2. I have not actually blacklisted anyone for anything other than reason #1.

I understand your frustration with this player but at this point I think it is in your best interests to simply file Dexter under "Do Not Trust" and continue to play. Play by the rules, declare war on him. Find out who is on his borders and message them to coordinate attacks. Split his territory up with your new allies. Make peace with others who share borders with you until Dexter is Dead. This is better than blacklisting, this is revenge.

Thanks everyone. I have a great plan. It may lead to me not winning, but it's a way that he is for sure not going to win. I think it will send a message/lesson

For those of you that have been following and responding to this thread, I figured out that the player is running two accounts. When he finally conceeded, he did not give me the island back, but said because he was PE he would give control to another person. So who would give their password to another person? only someone that has two accounts.

I see nothing wrong with his actions, exept for maybe not moving out (which he actually might have ordered and you may have taken his armies out which he wanted to move with) and moving into the territory in the first place (which he said was a mistake). Also there was no rule about declaring war (no rules at all actually), it may not have been nice of him to declare late, but it wasn't against any rules. Finally with giving his lands away he meant that Butthole could take his lands (probably because they had good relations in that game or in another game), and he just decided he would get them, I see nothing about giving his passport away.
