I'm making a new version of my Occasus Universitas map with new gameplay. Every territory is connected to development squares and every square gives 1 income if its territory is controlled. The exceptions are city development squares which don't require their territory, but the first square in order to gain income:

Very complex and possibly too weird. But I wanna see how it looks in the end.

Seems like it would go over the land limit (3400). 800 lands already for Spain and Portugal. What happens with Russia and France?

I've another thought.

Stronghold fighting

One of the things that I don't at all see enough in WL maps is withinborough warfare; it seems like this could be much cooler if you kind of lay it out each development number into their own fort designs like in Fall of Jerusalem but more kinds.

Can also, make the borough's middle land worthing 2 income instead of one, of its weight; then this design would be for 10 development squares.

How it could be done
many other ways can be done as well

Designs for lower developments could easily be made.
Everything below 6 squares: the boroughs like in muligan's Asia (http://pasteboard.co/ckj7oqtWd.png (designs for 3, and 2 development squares))

5 squares: like (http://pasteboard.co/ck53U5BNa.png) but without the lands between the middleburgh and the gates, and only 3 gates.

6 squares: 5 square design+middleburgh leads to an onesquare borough

7 squares: 5 square design+middleburgh leads to twosquare borough

8 squares: like like (http://pasteboard.co/ck53U5BNa.png) but with only 3 in-between lands, and only 3 gates.

9 squares: 8 square design+middleburgh leads to onesquare borough

10 squares: 8 square design+middleburgh leads to twosquareborough

and so on.

I'm taking territories from my previous map and combining them into single ones, so this map should have around 250-300 territories as opposed to 750 and the eastern territories will far less development than the western ones.

I will also tinker a bit with your fort idea.

The Cities' squares have now been changed to a pyramid style layout.

Does anyone have an idea for a better map name than the one currently used.

Lisboa development 5 and 6 don't connect and there are two trade centers on it.

I've now added colour to bonuses to make it easier to find a territory's development squares and made the map's pallette darker as a whole. Development squares are colored the same as the territory, trade centres are coloured orange, future development squares are white and cities and their development squares are purple.

Also, to gain the bonus from a territory you must hold it and all development squares, except future ones and trade centres(They now give an army by just holding them).

Oh, and it just dawned on me that the bonus colours for bonuses aren't restricted to the ones on the menu.

So, there are some bad/good news depending on how you look at it. I've decided to zoom in the map to only include Western Europe. This is for two reasons - the first being that the mapmaker lags a lot at this point and it will only get worse the more territory I add - and two the process of making it has gotten tedious and I've lost a lot of my desire to continue it.

I can definitely feel you.Have you tried making an alternate version with no bonus links? It reduced my waiting time to about one third.(I am still working on the Peloponnesian war map by the way)
