Season 8 P/R Guide:
________________________________________________________ Group A 9 players, 2 leaving. 9th relegates. Next season: 6A, 3B and 1C
________________________________________________________ Group B 10 players. 1-3th promotes, 4-9th stays, 10th relegates. Next season: 1A, 6B, 2C, 1D
________________________________________________________ Group C 9 players. 1st superpromotes to A, 2-3rd promotes, 4-8th stays. 9th relegates (and this can be a blood bath with possible 6 players finishing 3-5). Tiebreakers will be applied on popular demand. Next season: 1B, 5C, 3D, 1E
________________________________________________________ Group D 9 players. 1 superpromotes to B, 2-4th promotes. 5-8th stays. 9th relegates. Next season: 1C, 4D, 3E, 2F
________________________________________________________ Group E 9 players. 1st superpromotes to C, 2-4th promotes to D, 5-8th stays, 9 relegates (again it can end with possible a bunch of 3-5 records (5 players max). Next season: 1D, 4E, 3F, 1G, 1F
________________________________________________________ Group F 9 players. 1-2nd superpromotes to D, 3-6th promotes to E, 7-8th stays, 9th relegates. Next season: 1E, 2F, 3G, 2H1, 2H2
________________________________________________________ Group G 7 players. 1 leaving and 1 removed. 1st superpromotes to E, 2-5th promotes (BelSon leaving), 6th stays. Cat juggernaut (7th) removed for boots. Next season: 1F, 1G, 4H1, 4H2,
________________________________________________________ Group H1 9 players. 1-2nd superpromotes to F. 3-6th promotes to G. The rest stays in H
________________________________________________________ Group H2 10 players, 2 leaving. 1st superpromotes to F. 3-6th promotes to G. The rest stays in H ________________________________________________________
Edit: so now there should be 10 in all groups next season. Further drop outs from the league will mean more promotions if annonced to me before next season. We had a lot of groups with less than 10 players joining this season - please let me know if you want to drop out, so we can fill groups.

personally, i would rather have 11 players in that group (you can even out things in the next season, or they will do that themselves), than pick between these two options. if i had to pick i would superpromote. things are going well so far if i might add, the league is running well as it should be. good job!

I'm pro the conditional non-relegation in C at the cost of a super-promotion in E if there is a multiple way tie.

As someone who is at risk of demotion, I think the tiebreaks should be applied as normal. We all signed up knowing the rules and if the tiebreaks are good enough to determine first in Group A they are good enough to determine 9th in Group C.
The group was extremely strong, very well played to everyone in Group C.

I agree with graemes. The tie-break rules bring stability and fairness, allowing players to know where they stand and the implications of any ties even before they happen. Also remember to check for any boot losses, as a 0.5 point deduction for a boot could totally change an otherwise unbreakable tie.
Gotta say, I'm having a difficult time trying to completely cut ties with this league. Hope you don't mind my inputs Bjarke. :P

Gotta say, I'm having a difficult time trying to completely cut ties with this league As the resident expert on tie-breakers, I reckon it's a good thing you're having a difficult time huddyj! :P But yeah, I too agree with graemes and Bonsai. It'd be awful to be involved in that scenario, and shows that the players are good enough to tie with each other!

Great question Bonsai, I'll do some thinking on that one.
Maybe someone can do a group by group update incorporating the -0.5 points for boot losses, and we can do some 'live' case studies to see what might happen. I unfortunately don't have the time to work on that at the moment.

@Bonsai
To me player B must rank higher. The -.5 is applied before tiebreakers are even considered. Player B wins the only tiebreak consideration

Well, I'm doing my best to win that last game so there is no tiebreaker, but I also agree that we should keep the tiebreaker rules we had at the start of this round, that was what we expected when we agreed to stay on another time.

Well, considering that super-promotions were not on the table before people started quitting I don't think it's any more out of the blue not to relegate someone.
So though we all know what the tie-breaking system is, the promotions and relegations weren't set before, so it's not consistent or inconsistent to make up for missing players by reducing a relegation rather than introducing a super-promotion.
Anyway I don't really have a strong feeling either way.
