I agree with RvW; just create your map the way you like and safe it. You can simplify and upload your map afterwards.

I also agree with choosing harbours over airports.

tristaneke, I don't ask you to read all the 252 posts of this tread...
But the page you currently have open gives you all the info you asked for.
In other words:

AAAAAAAAARGH!

Also, note that the territories have to be big enough. I've had to enlarge my Slovenia Map - which is now public! - because the army number didn't fit into the territories.
With the amount of territories you're using, resetting all the centerpoints will be a pain.

1. The map can't be enlarged any more. It's at the maximum size already.
2. I don't believe in putting circles over territories to make them fit the army numbers. As long as the numbers don't overlap with other numbers, it's playable.
3. I don't know if I should continue with this map or not. Right now I'm only destroying what I built up in months, and losing whatever value the map might have over the existing Netherlands map, except the few extra territories. I mean, wouldn't it suck to recreate the existing Europe map, but with a few extra territories of Africa added?

Well, seeing you said Belgium has more territories than the Netherlands, that comparison doesn't work. Plus this map is so super-detailed, that I doubt just a little chiselling would hurt it so much. And seeing you have a means of transport through water, there is also extra gameplay value.
So cheer up, save the map as it is now - perhaps you'll be able to use this version one day - take out the intricate Frisian lakes and see if it makes any difference. Also, you could think about taking away the background, which is aesthetically useful but otherwise not.
Of course, I'm not sure if that would actually make a difference, but discontinuing this awesome project would be such a shame...

A different option would be to create a Netherlands map only, but then with airports/harbours and HD territories. And then later make a different one with Belgium and Luxembourg, but with lower detail.

Ik ben het met tristaneke eens!

What are the problems you are running in to exactly?

It is to big right? I really like the details in the map, if you want to keep that you can maybe reduce the file size by decreasing the detail in the bonus markers?

@Domenico:
I'm not an expert on the SVG file format, but to the best of my knowledge, file size depends mainly on the number of coordinates it has to store. Since the background is just a few points (with neat-looking splines between them, but still just a few points), deleting it probably wouldn't make much of a difference. (Making a copy of the original SVG, deleting the background and comparing file sizes would be a very quick process so, if Moros wants to, it'd be easy to verify this.)

@Moros:
Your own suggestion sounds good as well. It prevents the worst scenario of all (all your effort having been in vain), it keeps open the option to complete your masterpiece if (when!! :) ) Fizzer decides to relax the limitation on file size and we get to play on it while we wait for him to do so.

Aw, this is a shame. I think you could still have done enough to maintain the Benelux Map.
Well, now that you've done this, I'll just focus on how to improve the gameplay. I think that if you edit some locations for harbours and airports, the map can still have a lot added value.
For example, I propose giving Maastricht a harbour, connecting it to Moerdijk.
I'll look at it more closely another time.

I second the suggestion to ask Fizzer for an exception on the file size rule. Things like this should scale pretty well, so unless there is some sort of technical problem with large map sizes, a limit 2 or three times as high shouldn't be too much of a problem. I don't know what the current size limit is, but I don't think it would become too much of a bottleneck if the file size was allowed to be higher (for this map).
On top of that, you have this map to show Fizzer, which should convince him that you aren't just trying to mess with the system, but just making one awesome map.

Besides, "niet geschoten is altijd mis".

I'm writing this from London on a terrible computer:, so can t type much.

I believe you all misunderstood me. I'm not planning to quit working on Benelux, I'm just going to sstall it for a while, whilst I work on a Netherlabds version with the ports and airports, and the detial I wish in the Benelux map. Later, I'll make a Belgium map of the same concept. The Luxembourg map is already there.
But I'll not quit with Benelux, I'll write an e-mail to Fizzer until both NL and Belgium maps have been published. Then, if Fizzer sees that quality, he might relax the file klimit to allow me to combine the three maps into one.
-----
And, as someone told me before, I know Antwerp is named Error on the NL map, that is because I wanted to show the rivers on the background, so I altered the current Antwerp territory so I wouldn't have to redraw the thing. But, I forgot to remve the ID, so Warlght reads it as a territory. That's why I named it Error, I intend to remove it as soon as I can acces the file, which would be by wednesdat.
