what??? i agree about jay but only times i see Dunga is his nations post, i rarely see G.Mac around here, Lolowut is only posting those silly live tournies or vigorously defending his apex friends. The forum legends i had in mind were more along the lines like X and Qi.

i would put Gangnam style in The Experimental Generation, he was extremely good. He wins some live tourney, and he was a very good in 1v1s too.

The Up and Coming is not that true because you didn't include Verzehrer (nice job for mentioning lord btw). Also, you forgot to include Ruthless Bastard.

Oh, it's nice to be placed in such noble company, but after playing more than 6k games i don't feel i'm still improving, so 'Down and falling' would suit me better :P

Gnuff, it's 8. I didn't get further than 2nd place.

Also I disagree with Piggy. Red is much awesome, so good.

gnuffone - i count 10.

as for the experimental gen - definitely GangnamStyle should be included. He is dominant in many templates and as Gnuff said - he is extremely good. But there were others there as well.. Psy, Brisk, Dreuj, Dunga, Boston, Beelz, Bumblebee and many many more.. However I'm not really sure about Summer - maybe we played different templates, but i feel like she wasn't that good until pretty much recently.. In my personal list i would put her in the third generation - Right on top of it as she went beyond most in 3rd gen, and i feel she started playing seriously sort of in between the two "waves" of players.. so either she's 2nd gen's last word, or the first of the fresh gen to come and crush "the old farts"..

frank - you made it to #1 on 2v2 with ollie..

Ah, for some reason I thought he only meant the 1v1 ladder.
And I also did it with Luxis ;)

Wow, only the elitist skill members with availability to ladder? I see how it is......why not add a short list of roleplaying up-and-comers? (because roleplay players make up at least a third of warlight)

Because role-play is not a measurable form of talent, neither is it considered a significant part of competitive WarLight (which this thread is obviously all about).

So you consider roleplay insignificant and below the rest of warlight? It does take talent to roleplay, the actual game of warlight is strategy and math, simple. While serious roleplaying takes lots of thought and an imagination. And every game is different, which means hundreds of different scenarios to roleplay as. Roleplaying takes just as much work, if not more, than becoming good at strategy, and ultimately, the ladder all you seem to praise.

Roleplaying takes just as much work

Completely different work, none of which has to do with competitive (even team) games. RP is fun; but by its very definition it isn't serious. Neither it is as difficult to be good at it when compared to competitive games. I am a semi-decent player in the ladder (I like to think ;) ) but I can also role-play very very easily. The only difficult thing is finding time for it.

So you consider roleplay insignificant and below the rest of warlight?

I don't consider role-play insignificant - I consider it to totally irrelevant to this thread.

This thread is about the generations of warlight. It should have at the LEAST a small list of roleplayers. I'm glad you can roleplay easily. That must be why you consider it not so difficult to do so. But when I say serious roleplay, I mean dedication, not breaking character, Writing paragraphs that are novel-worthy (Genghis Ron). There are entire clans dedicated to the art of roleplay, both serious and for fun. Roleplayers at least need a shoutout.

i have played a lot of real role-playing games - and i don't mean cRPG which have nothing to do with true rpg.. i mean the classic rpgs or larps which involve serious skills... I also tried to play a few so called "role-playing" warlight matches.. But what i have seen was just a bunch of people who can't play very good, playing a game where only a small portion of players is role-playing. The rest just wanted to win it.. just like any other game.. but with it being easier since SOME of the opponents were more focussed on impersonating whatever role they had..

For me a role-playing game should not be considerred as a game to win or lose - it should be played more like a movie to be watched - you should be more interested in what will the next turn show than who will win in the end.. But i have seen no such game here. So for me now - warlight rp games are just a fancy name for yet another low-skill game.. somewhat half way between average semi-competitive games and lottery games.. arcade time killers - nothing more, nothing less..

I do however feel that if we were talking about warlight chronology per se - the rpg boom, and the lottery4points boom should be mentioned - they happenned somewhere shortly after the 3rd gen of competitive players arrived and most of which were still unknown to the community... (however it's not related to them ofc)

I agree that Role-playing is not competitive at all. It's not even the point of the game, there's no skill involved just discipline and maturity is needed. The only skill is fun, your skilled if you can make the games fun and enjoyable to play.

I don't mean to be crude, but judging from your stats there's nothing "simple" about it...understanding something isn't as hard as applying it practically, as you demonstrate so nicely for us.

(because roleplay players make up at least a third of warlight)
