David Cameron is the founder of acceptable British Conservatism. He led the country through good times due to his ability to work with others. It's my own opinion, but I believe firmly he was one of the best.

Churchill I respect because of his ability to keep the UK from dying during WW2 basically. His agenda afterward kinda sucked but during the war, he was a good crisis manager. Chamberlin sucked because he was blinded by ideology and didn't see the coming fight in front of him. And then he resigned once it all fell apart instead of trying to fix it.

He abandoned Austria, he abandoned the Czechs, and then he abandoned Poland. He reneged on promises and basic human dignity and he, along with the French, are 100% to blame for not stopping Hitler when they could. The French could have destroyed him when he invaded the Rhine, even Hitler said so in his writings. But they didnt do it.

(Also, keep in mind Progressive British Conservatives would be Democrats in the US, so it makes ideological sense I'd like Cameron to a certain degree.)

Something I seem to have in common with Conservative is very little knowledge of the prime ministers before 1900, so for this list, keep in mind I'm excluding the ones before then.

Worst:

1) Anthony Eden

- Suez crisis
- Failure to implement anything new, even during a boom
- Handled the Mau Mau rebellion atrociously, breaching several human rights in Kenya

2) Margaret Thatcher

- Huge aggression against miners, using force against thousands- total brute
- Destroyed industry, instead of phasing it out
- Was the stem of the rapid rise of inequality since, and during her tenure
- Said "we don't negotiate with terrorists [IRA]", yet negotiated with them behind closed doors
- Privatised as much as she could
- Handled the Falklands War terribly (ordered the troops to shoot down a boat full of teenagers when they were retreating)
- Decided to attack Scotland with the poll tax
- Supported Pinochet
- Wanted to keep the Berlin wall up in fear of Germany becoming a stronger economic power than Britain (she was right there)
- Deregulated the banks
- Removed lots of social housing, growing homelessness
- Margaret Thatcher the Milk Snatcher, stole free school milk
+ Weakened the unions' strength in Britain (not a fan of how she did it, but they were too strong)
+ Made the economy more service-based
+ Made sure more rich people paid taxes by lowering them
+ Supported the EU

3) Winston Churchill

- Starved millions of people in Bengal, by taking away their produce in order to feed British citizens
- Like Eden, handled the Mau Mau rebellion terribly, putting people in camps
- Bombed Dresden, killing civilians
- Wanted to preserve the empire
- Voted against the NHS *21 times*
+ Was far less weak than Chamberlain on Hitler
~ (Not positive or negative) He motivated Brits (Hitler motivated Germans, not necessarily a good thing)

4) Ramsay MacDonald

- Failed at getting out of the Great Depression
- Made Britain a 1 party state under the Tories, despite being Labour, for making his own party unelectable
- Failed to make any notable changes, just prolong the depression
- Was in bed with the Tories for most of his tenure
+ He wasn't a Tory
+ He broke up some banks

5) Neville Chamberlain

- Waaay too soft on Hitler
+ At least he eventually declared war

Best:

1) Clement Attlee

+ Founded the NHS
+ Created the British welfare state
+ Improved social mobiliy through large amounts of social housing
+ Nationalised several industries
+ Increased the strength of the unions
+ Began to break up the British Empire
+ Supported collective bargaining

2) Tony Blair

+ Modernised Labour
+ Introduced minimum wage
+ Banned guns
+ Maintained education system better than most
+ Created Scottish and Welsh Parliaments
+ Supported EU
+ Highest amount of people brought out of poverty in 1 term ever between '97 and '01
+ Introduced paternity leave
+ Banned fox hunting
+ Good Friday Agreement, making peace in Northern Ireland
+ Lowered gay age of consent to the same as that of straights
- Began privatisation of NHS
- Iraq war
- Wanted to join the Euro; Brown stopped him
- Too right-wing for a Labour leader
- Didn't nationalise railways

3) Harold Wilson

+ Allowed women to have abortions
+ Got rid of the grammar schools
+ Created a form of free university
+ Kept industries nationalised
+ Maintained low unemployment
+ Made income distribution more fair
+ Introduced new subsidies, like in farms
+ Decriminalised homosexuality
+ Increased NHS spending
- Opposed the EU
- Was too resource-minded instead of service-minded in the 70s
- Failed to lower tensions in Ireland

4) David Lloyd George

+ First to nationalise industries, like rails and factories
+ Gave women the vote
+ Didn't want to go so hard on Germany in the treaty of Versailles
+ Opposed Boer war
+ Secularist (pretty damn important in the 1910s btw)
+ First social housing under him
- Didn't oppose treaty of Versailles strongly enough
- Lost the vote of the working class, making the Liberals forever irrelevant

5) David Cameron (yikes)

+ Modernised Conservatives
+ Brought Britain out of recession
+ Supported referendums (Scottish, AV, Brexit)
+ Same-sex marriage
+ Supported green energy
+ Opposed the Big Brother shit that Theresa May's doing
+ Supported the EU
- Largest ever NHS privatisation deal
- Removed disability benefits
- Privatised Royal Mail
- Wanted to do the same to prisons
- Bedroom tax
- Austerity out of control

I think May might crack a decent top 5 spot in the worst if she continues this internet regulation stuff!

Final analysis: 2/5 of the "best" are named David. Rename yourselves if you want to be prime minister!

OxTheAutist, I disagree on what you said about colonialism.
Here me out,
Before colonialism Africans had no written language, no wheel as we know it, schools, hospitals, not even normal clothing.

And people across the empire were civilized.

If you compare Africa today to it under British/white rule it was much better.

A prime example is Rhodesia, and the rest of Africa, after Europeans left, civil war began.

Um...what? Go read about the huge continent of Africa. You don't know that Africa holds the second oldest university in the world? Sounds like you've been swalling the Ooga booga kongo raindance lies.

And people across the empire were civilized.

Yes, authoritarianism, massacres, genocide, and war crimes "civilised" them.

he is. And then you have Ethiopia as well. And the rest were less developped but it doesn't justify their human rights being taken away.

The title of the best pm would go to Charles Grey for sure

some of his great actions. The latter is the most relevant one

+ signed the reform act of 1832
+ quelled the Swing Riots
+ guaranteed catholic emanicipation
+ restricted the employment of children
+ reform of the Poor Laws
+ abolition of slavery throughout the British Empire
(not important)
+ was the fucking leading figure at the treaty of the eighteen articles proclaiming Belgian independance, British recognition of the Belgian state and bringing peace between the Netherlands and Belgium
+ condemned the killing and massacres of Belgians during a strain period of repeatedly dutch invasions in the tiendaagse veldtocht
+ during his leadership, Britain was the only great power supporting an independant Belgian state (France tried to re-annex us, Austria & Prussia wanted the nation to split)

1 negative point
- didn't prevent the Congo from being raped by making sure Belgium exists

Any evidence that King Solomon/Shlomo was a real person? The claim that a Solomonic dynasty existed in Ethiopia depends on the existence of Solomon.

So this is an Ethiopian bridge? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fasilides#/media/File:Sebara_Dildiy_(Broken_Bridge)_on_Blue_Nile_River.jpg

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fasil_Ghebbi#/media/File:Fasilides_Palace_02.jpg This one is reasonable though.

However they had contact with the outside world....
