If the allied soldiers saw the world today they would stop fighting the germans and defect to them.

Your thoughts?

Nice text, pretty curious and interesting to say the least. Though, I don't think they'd defect that easily. They'd more likely just stop fighting or move elsewhere. That sense of pride and nationalism is still obviously there, just dissatisfaction with the way their pride is going.

They'd more than likely be members of British right wing groups instead and protest the war

Regarding the original post, before the war had ended the allies had already betrayed the casus belli. Britain and France declared war in response to the invasion of Poland. Despite this effort to defend the integrity of the Polish state the West acceded to the Polish state being subverted by the Soviet Union.

In February 1945, the Yalta Conference sanctioned the formation of a provisional government of Poland from a compromise coalition, until postwar elections. Joseph Stalin, the leader of the Soviet Union, manipulated the implementation of that ruling. A practically communist-controlled Provisional Government of National Unity was formed in Warsaw by ignoring the Polish government-in-exile based in London since 1940.

The manipulation of elections as well as the change of Polish borders (while Germany was simultaneously being dismembered) was a betrayal of the goals that were in part what was supposed to have justified the war. It could be argued that the West had two options, they could do what they did, or they could start another war, once again to defend the Polish state. Tens of millions had already died. It could reasonably be expected that as many would die in a new war. Poland had already had proportionately suffered more death than even the Soviet Union. So, a peace of sorts was accepted. As ugly as this all was the moral filth did not end there.

Realpolitik is an "attempt at answering the conundrum of how to achieve liberal enlightened goals in a world that does not follow liberal enlightened rules."

That generation had its crisis which was met with a mix of righteousness, pragmatism, and immoral compromises that were accepted with the hope of avoiding still greater evils.

A recent Chief of Staff said, "you’ve got to be cold-blooded about the self-interests of your nation."

Now once again a little realism is needed.

Trevor Philips has a point of view worth considering on the subject, because as a Labor politician, and member of the Equality Commission, he has an inside view. Not that he has the last word to say on the subject, but he is somewhat forthright on the subject of race.

A bit over an hour in length. The video is entitled Things we wont say about race that are true.

if you want to dictate how others behave and start a politician-government worshipping cult you can right off yourself

I don't want to start a politician-government worshiping cult.

What I find interesting about Trevor Philips is that he has recognized that his fight against prejudice has by his own lights materially aided criminals like those who raped some 1400 British girls. He does not state it so boldly but i think that is what the man is saying. His admission that they helped further a view of white British folk that is as harsh and prejudiced as those which he fought was of interest to me.

My argument is not that someone should vote Labor or something like that.

My interest was in hearing this man explain what the Labor politicians thought they were doing, and what he thinks of where Britain is now.

If none of this interests you, then ignore it.
