I would like to improve in 1v1's on the Rise of Rome map so if any top players that are good at the map wouldn't mind tutoring me on it, message me or comment on this thread and I will set up a practice game.

1v1s on that map are not my bests, but I`ll see what I can tutor you. (For 2v2s on that map you can ask me much more :p)

i think the best thing to do is to play some 1v1 games at it, and see where its most important to cover and what places are most powerful. i can tell you that the parthian empire is pretty strong (you probably know that already). :)

im also more experienced in 2v2s and 3v3s on rise of rome. me and a friend won 38 2v2 games in a row on that map :)

Me and my friend are 16-0 so far, so we have to walk a long road to get a better run than Banana :p (Although on the Imp Romanum map we are 22-1, after our lose we started playing this map :p)

that is by far my favorite mam! invite me to a game some day! almost won a tourney with that map!

The strategy is very different depending on the settings. 2 or 0 neutrals? How many starting points? Tell us the settings you usually use :)

no cards, 2 neutrals, 4 manual starting points.

There is a lot of good options, an easy one is going for Magna britania or germania (quick big bonuses) and put 1 in partha to prevent the empire (pick partha first to prevent losing the pick o try one in a big bonus that will not be likely chosen by the enemy). You can try 1 in another place, in illyricum (frontier with italy so you are near south germania) or east spain (counters africa too), you will be a bit slower at the beggining but you expand quicker later and if the enemy picked the same as you is better to have an extra "safe" place.
I would never go for France (maybe 1 to counter britain if you are not there, but not with the intention to take the big bonus fast). Italy either, maybe 1 in rome area to quick bonuses or the islands as a counter to africa/spain, but not as main bonus.

You can try 1 to counter partha, 1 to counter britain/germania (scotland maybe?) and 2 in the bonus you like (spain, illyricum, macedonia, africa). The expansion is slower but you block the quick bonuses so its fine.

france can be good. if you go 1 in parthian and the rest in france to take it as fast as possible. that way you kinda cover all big bonuses, except greece and africa. i lost to this strategy once. but its very risky though, cause france is veery easy to break. its worth a try though :)

As you say, is easy to break from britain, germania, spain or italy. Illyricum and africa can be near too, so its only safe if the enemy goes to macedonia or partha/asia, but in that case going britania or spain is good enough and less risky.

yup its not safe, but the enemy is not safe from you eighter. if you reach the south of uk and/or the north of spain before the enemy, he's dead ;) but of course if you dont secure it, you are dead

i almost always go for ilycium. (also used to playing with 0 neutrals)

Not the best 1v1 map. I think it is too big. Allows for small mistakes to be glossed over in a way that they wouldn't on a smaller map.
