Hold a referendum on whether or not you wish to have universal healthcare. States that vote for it can implement it on their own. Those who don't, just don't bother.

How do you prevent people from living in one state that doesn't have universal health care from moving to another state that does once they get sick?

Keep in mind the constitutionally recognized right to travel.

They move to the new state, then they want health care. You can't prohibit someone from traveling to another state and taking up residency there.

US healthcare kinda sucks

It's very cost ineffective. For broken arms or legs or simple accidents you have to pay a FORTUNE.
A fraction of what it could cost.

Even with the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, 27 million Americans remain uninsured, out of a population of some 325 million.

Lack of insurance is associated with premature death.

A study published in the American Journal of Public Health in 2009 found that lack of health insurance is associated with about 45,000 excess preventable deaths per year.

It is an embarrassing fact that more than 60% of personal bankruptcies in the U.S. are caused by medical bills. This was true despite the fact that these people had medical insurance.

Odder still is the fact that U.S. government spending on health care is amongst the highest in the world. And yet there are tremendous number who are uninsured or under-insured.

I am, or was acquainted, with at least one such individual who was uninsured. He no longer has that problem.

He's dead.

Unnecessarily so, but I guess he deserved it, he was just so goddamned fucking poor.

I profit more from the healthcare system in the US than the average US citizen. Funny considering you have a president who promised "America first".

waivers for people who can't afford it, rewrite the tax code and get rid of legalism so there's more competition among providers.

Insurance companies and the government work together to write health care legislation. Keep that in mind when you complain about the flaws of the health care system. Yes the system is broken; it is completely broken in countries with completely socialized healthcare too.

EVERYTHING the state is involved in is full of bureaucratic fuckery, that is the nature of politics. Democratic officials are among society's most corrupt. The idea that, miraculously, with no incentive, bureaucrats will give everyone adequate healthcare, is a pipe dream.

you might get your healthcare, but state resources will be allocated to areas in which the free market is no litmus test for progress. That means while your government is paying for healthcare, companies are short of funds to innovate and ultimately improve the standard of living.

Ultimately United States Needs to have at least one reliable minister of health. The current one which is Eric Hargan, the deputy secretary of the department of health, is not only a crony but also a fattie. It's almost like a joke. You guys are blatantly copying Belgium's most popular and obese minister of health

There's two ways America could try to fix it's healthcare problem, and I guarantee that both are way better than what you have now. As it is, the government just pours insane ammounts of money (more than Europeans per capita!!!) in a system that doesn't work well for patients or gvt finances.

1) Fix using the free market:

- Wave import restrictions on medicine, they've been put in place by big pharma so they can rip off americans into paying insane prices for medicine that costs 10, 20, 50 times less in other advanced countries. Just import from Canada or Europe, it's the same fuckin meds, and it's not like their quality is worse, it's probably better since these countries actually have some working regulatory agencies that make sure we don't get poisoned or anything.

Goal: the extra med offer will make medicine prices plumbet in America.

- Allow any certified doctor to immigrate legally to America, they will come since they will get paid more than they do in their countries, America is very attractive since you guys find it normal to pay normal doctors 100k+ salaries, and it's not rare that surgeons get half a million dollars a year.

Goal: the extra doctors offer will make make the price for consultations and surgeries decrease to normal levels.

- Fix the health laws that allows patients to sue for millions their doctors for medical mistakes with sometimes very questionable reasons and win most times. That just forces them to pay huge settlements, thus raising the cost for everyone. I'm not saying really negligence should go away easily, but you have to be fair, you can't assume doctors didn't do their best or tried to kill you, it's a hard job and a lot of the time you have % chances of a procedure work. In Europe suing your doctor is very, very rare, and the system works fine.

Goal: decrease hospital-insurance and doctor-insurance costs, thus decreasing medical costs in general.

At the end healthcare costs will decrease a lot, and medicare expenditure will decrease a lot too, since the government will be subzidizing less expensive medical treatments.

2) You can also fix the system with European-type single-payer systems. With government taking over all of the healthcare sector, you can decrease expenditure by having everyone using one centralised payment and treatment system.

In America, the total yearly health expenditure per capita is 9500 dollars on a very bad healthcare system that doesn't work like it should for 90% of the population. The French and their socialised system has on the other hand has a 4400$ per capita cost with a healthcare system that works way better for way more people.

Just replicate the same system, even if it doesn't match up perfectly, you'll have at least some cost-saving and some healthcare improvement, which is better than what you have now, a fuckload expensive system that at the end of the day just leave most people to die.

Socialized medicine means long (fatal) waiting times. People using the single-payer system are dying basically because they don't have access to doctors.

Here's Crowder trying to get medical care at a Canadian Socialist ER.

9 hours for a broken clavicle lol

In the US you actually get medical care before you keel over dead

The best part was when the nurse told him he has to wait THREE YEARS to get a doctor because he's young. See this is the thing with socialism: you have to allocate scarce resources to everybody. What's "free for all citizens" is poor quality, and has to be rationed. What a joke.
