This is a game when I was ally of every other player but betrayed them at the right time and renew the alliance at the right time. They are too make alliances and betrayed each other but they fallen.

And the edification: in free for all there are no allies, just people whose have to betray you if they want to win.

Anyway betrayal is just for people who doesn't know how to play. But in ffa sometimes betraying people is a necessity if u are in big disadvantage. In this case urfang wasnt ever in disadvantage and he played like that cos he cannot beat me in a fair game. anyway i cannot complain if he betrayed me, but i can for sure say that he's a bad player compared to me. cheers to sasha gray for having underlined my bad english.. grammar is a very very very very very very important thing to live good:\

You say there are no allies, just people who have to betray you if they want to win. That is a correct statement of the end game, but early and middle game it is a situation of MAD, there is no opponent that can afford to fight it out with you if they want to win (unless they are in an alliance with someone). The art of betrayal is being agressive while keeping reserves and judging when your opponent has to attack you (I actually had someone really mad at me because i broke our truce when there were only 2 of us left)and being ready 2 turns in advance. I try to judge when the common opponent has been weakened enough that if I turn on my ally the opponent will not be strong enough to join with my former ally and make me fight a 2 front war. Try to negotiate terms that give you an advantage either with bonuses or chokepoints to be able to set up reserves to protect from your ally. There is an art to this and it is the best part of the game IMHO. Last, never forget the endgame, when your ally is someone you have to beat (I would love to see a points system to award 2nd and 3 rd place in large FFAs, but thats another discussion); i sometimes find i delay the stab in the back because I develope a sense of loyalty (most of us who are not sociopaths have an inate sense of honesty that is counterproductive in a FFA). The other thing I would say is that I would love the spy card to also allow you to see private chat of a player in addition to their force deployments.

There are a few problems with that (I think *you* are probably already aware of them, but to enlighten other people reading this thread who, at first, love your idea):

- In my experience it's not uncommon for people to "abuse" private chat to have discussion which have nothing to do with the current game, or even WL at all. People talk about private stuff in private chat. While adding such a card (or modifying the current Spy Card) would not affect current games and people *could* be warned that, essentially "private chat is no longer private", to me this seems like asking for trouble.
- Not everyone (not nearly!) is from the USA; while "all" of us speak English (to some degree :p ), there's quite a few of us on here who also speak other languages. If you were spying on someone's private chat, I suspect there's a good chance it will be in Dutch or Polish (to just name two language groups I know to be relatively big on WL).
Sure, you could muck around with Google Translate, but that's *very* sensitive to correct spelling. If I *know* you might be spying on my chat, it would take little effort to deliberately misspell some words and make machine translation infeasible (while my fellow-native speaker will have no trouble understanding at all).
- Last but not least, I suspect spying on the good / experienced players will usually only reveal a single line of chat: "This game has the new Spy Card, please email me on rvw+wl-privatechat@gmail.com to discuss treaties.". (Alternatively, the active players among themselves can simply discuss one game in the private chat of another game.)

Now, if treaties were ever formalized (such as allowing dynamically teaming up with other players (and getting some kind of benefit out of it, maybe shared visibility or the option to transfer troops or something), then I'd be all in favour of the Spy Card being able to reveal *that* information. But Spy'ing on private chat...? No, that seems like a terrible idea.

another thing about the art of betrayal from experience of being betrayed betray at the right time especially with light fog.I once played a game my ally betrayed me when i was about to kill an opponent in a game of light fog .I couldn't fight 2v1 unprepared and so i surrendered then the person i nearly killed grew stronger and went on to kill my betrayer.Lesson for you all betray at the right moment or it will come back to bite you or eliminate you.If the player had waited till the person i was fighting to die and then he wouldn't have to encounter that person again plus be closer to winning and not be killed by him.LOL i was avenged.
