It's unfair that when your WL map has a too long name, you can't change it's name to a shorter one because that option doesn't show up.

Have you tried changing the resolution of your screen to something horizontally larger?

Edit: Nope, I guess it a fixed width then. Worth a shot though.

Wait Green doesn't get it , I'll give a larger view:

the problem is that there's too much Black space. Maybe fizzer can fix this problem, so it would not happen for other people.

@Bananashake
Yes , I could do that. But it was just a try to see what would happen if you could publish a map with a large name. The answer was no because the option doesn't show up. This thread maybe can provoke future problems.

And for the others, No I can't give you a link to the map because I'm not able to edit my map. because all these options are not showing up.

That large name...

You are able to change the name if you want to, no need to make a new map.

Why do you have such a long name anyways, isn`t it more practical to have a shorter name. I`m sure there is a good shorter name for it.

Hardly seems like a real issue. You made an absurdly long name to prove that absurdly long names didn't work with the current system. BFD.

Common sense tells you that absurdly long names are impractical and unnecessary. Such descriptive language is better suited for the map description section. At most this might merit Fizzer implementing a character limit on map names but that is about it.

It is certainly not something that NEEDS changing. It's a corner case that even the most well-developed software/program will run into at times.

but if you accidently gave your map a large name and you wanted to make the name shorther but you can't?

Then just reload it. The naming of the map is the first thing you do so it is not like considerable work would be lost by starting a new map family.

It's a trivial matter.

Once again, there is an "edit name/description" option. No need to make a new family.

Min, the edit button isn't visible when you make a name that large. I just did it myself. All that is visible is the 'back' button for me and there does not appear to be any easy way to scroll or move horizontally within the window.

Oh, that is the problem. I thought the name not displaying correctly was the problem :p In that case a character limit would be best, but I don`t think it is needed to look at it as Sharpe already said. Why would you normally make such a long name.

Mind you, the fact that you can't edit the name also means you can't proceed with viewing the map or doing any additional work with it. Thus the only issue is that you have to start a new map family and have a defunct stupidly-long name cluttering your list of map families. No editing time is lost or any similarly frustrating scenario.

Sure, it can be tweaked in the next update but if it merits more than two lines of code it's simply not worth the time or effort.

Ok, I followed your advice and created a new one with a shorter name: http://warlight.net/SinglePlayer?PreviewMap=32130

To prevent confusion, I want to delete the one with the larger name. But I can't.

How can we solve this ? well easy, throw some black space away for some more place for those Map details options thing

One name is ~100 characters long, the other is ~10. How are you honestly going to confuse the two?

Frankly you are making a mountain of a molehill.

But still , if you want to get rid of that map.

And what if your map has a soo large name that you even can't click on ' back to family map list' ?

Then you navigate using the other tabs that are still available. Moving off the Multi-Player tab will reset the Map Design tab back to the map family listing.

Once again, mountain from a molehill.
