Vapor,
This is their most recent album which was just released Tuesday:
http://loudwire.com/project-86-wait-for-the-siren-exclusive-album-stream/

A couple of their music videos:

Based on the bands you listed above, I'm not sure what you'll think of them.

Hehe.. jazz enters the house!
From prior experiences I'd say my preference would be jazz. Classical is great! Bach's 8th invention I'm playing right now; rock is good too, but I'm only interested in Van Halen, Led Zepplin, somewhat Deep Purple, Pink Floyd and other songs I think are good. Pop ('popular') I don't get. All you need is an insane Boom-Boom-Boom beat that hurts your ears, heavy auto-tune and a lot of robotic style sounds and you get a great song! Typically it does not seem like music to me anymore. The band is useless, and you need no one to rely on but yourself. Also, no skill required! Auto-tune your crappy voice and you are good to go!
However Im here to tell you about jazz. This is one of the greatest acheicement America has ever had. John Coltrane, Art Blakely, Count Basie and, of course, Duke Ellington. Many, many more that are all fabulous. Right now I am listening to Night in Tunisia and Dimunuendo and Crescendo in Blue, search them up. But why I like jazz? Because it creates songs that will last for ages to come. Unlike pop music which gets hit songs every day, and the next day another hit song is created and the other one is forgotten, jazz has created some of the best and long lasting songs. Sing, Sing, Sing I am sure most people have heard. Even Walt Disney created movies during the Jazz age with this genre of music. This I see through my point of view and I'm sure many people disagree, but this what I have got to say.
If I have bad spelling it's because of my damn small keyboard on my iPad.

I'm aware Vapor, and I am familiar with both. Project is rather different from the two (which are quite different as it is). I liked AX7 when they came out but cooled quickly on them. # Days Grace is hit or miss for me.

Avenged Sevenfold has similar qualities to Project 86, mainly their darker stuff before they got all soft after their drummer died. The only mainstream band I'd associate Project 86 with would probably be Escape the Fate. Most of my generation seems obsessed with Pop music, which isn't that bad* but is nothing to scream about.

*Justin Beiber and the like are not included in this group, while singers like Adele and Maroon 5 are.

Now here's the kicker Vapor... Project 86 is technically a Christian rock band.

Yeah, I read that in the comments.I suppose you could associate them with Skillet then. Project 86 seems a touch darker though.

I would just like to state.. every generation in the entire timeline of humanity, majority will always like/obsessover pop music. As that's why it is pop music. Pop = Popular.. In 100 years maybe rock style music will become pop.. who can tell the future?

Richard, from what you've linked to, P86 sounds like most of the stuff I'd hear on Sirius' "Octane" radio station, you should check that out if you haven't already.

I'm primarily a metal head, but not your average metal head.

If anyone listens to the following, I'll be impressed. Post-metal and post-rock is a big part of my collection, namely ISIS (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xS3NkhjsBf0),
Intronaut (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1LmYsCzAgw),
Pelican (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPX9mHd0grM),
and The Ocean (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJT42OoWx0o) to name a few. I don't mind Cult of Luna and the almighty Neurosis either, but I don't own their stuff.

Progressive metal and technical death metal are also big ones for me. Tool in particular (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhjG47gtMCo),
Karnivool is a bit softer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nA05U0_S2y8),
Meshuggah (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuoDQKtiiJA),
Gojira (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afE6jbrFS4w)
and Opeth (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cb9C1u8HsR8), of course.

Sludge metal is pretty neat too, particularly Baroness (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cb9C1u8HsR8) and the first two Mastodon albums (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=labytsb3gfI).

Outside of that: U2, Black Sabbath, The Dead Weather, Amy Winehouse, Foo Fighters, Led Zeppelin, Pearl Jam, Radiohead, The Police, Rage Against the Machine, most of the classic grunge out there and, well let's just throw the entire '90s in there!

SPECIAL NOTE: This is extremely beautiful music by a Swede known as iamamiwhoiam... I'm hooked to her first album: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7zyF2QJ1BA

Sorry, that last link was the wrong track by the same artist, check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2KxlzQMTpU

As for pop, everything pre-2005 was tolerable. Now it's so simplistic and repetitive and loud and obnoxious...

... although we're starting to see that fade away. Soft rock and alternative is making its way back into the mainstream. We only have to ride the rough waters for a little longer!

I'm a music education major, and with that comes a serious love of music. I'll listen to nearly everything, and I've performed many different genres of music.

Favorite band hands down is Dream Theater.

Someone mentioned Opeth, I saw them live opening for Dream Theater and it was sick.

I play in the jazz band, percussion ensemble, and the symphonic band at my college, and at my old college I also performed in the symphonic orchestra and in the pit for a few operas. Played in bluegrass bands and death metal bands (neither which recorded.)

I'm a redneck at heart and love my old country music, but love Daft Punk and much much more.

Always willing to talk music, and I get excited every time someone brings it up (as you can tell by my longest post I've ever posted here.

I have a few videos of myself performing, and I'm trying to record more. If you would like a listen, keep in mind this are a few years old and I'm quite a bit better now.

Sorry for the double post.

But if you are going to look at my videos, I believe this one to be one of the best. There are only a few on there. I'll see if I can't get a few more soon.

@Noob School. I used to be lead trombone for the Roosevelt Jazz Band and Cadet Band. Probably why I like Jazz/classical so much.
@Ericleb I think the same way as you for pop music, before a certain time period (can't say, I never been a fan of pop music) pop was 'ok', but now it has deteriorated into something EXTREMELY unsatisfactory.
