Hi!

This is my first intervention in this forum. I discovered this game few weeks ago and I simply love it. I am more a maps & history geek than a online gamer, I don't know if that happens to many people here. :)

And well, I got the member upgrade because I want to provide games and maps with some historical background.

Here is my first one:

http://WarLight.net/SinglePlayer.aspx?PreviewMap=16404

It's about spanish, french, british and dutch assassins slaughtering each other, but specially slaughtering native people. I wanted to reflect it naming every territory outside the original settlements with a name of an american original nation.

I'm affraid (but it's also deliverate) it has a slow start up, and it will need some diplomacy, or the Antilles will be a mess...

Anyone for testing?

Hope you didn't get membership solely in order to create maps... that is a function availble to all players, not solely members.

As for the map itself, the 'legend' is very difficult to read. If it is necessary for gameplay I recommend correcting that. Also, the bonus borders should abut, not overlap as they currently do. In my opinion, having abutting borders greatly improves the aesthetics and ease-of-play.

There appear to be a few territories (Shawnee, Chicksaw) that are too small to support armies comfortably and definitely would not fit double-digit armies.

Is Chipewyan supposed to belong to a bonus? It currently does not.

Your Bahamas connections need work as it currently connects to Santo Domingo but not Port Francais.

Your bonuses need better balance. There are some 3-army bonuses that have only 2 territories while a 4-army bonus contains ten territories (Nueva Granada)

Thanks for the advices.

Yes, I got membership for more reasons, and one of them is the Custom scenarios, and that's what compensates most of the weird things about bonuses. (The map was thought for a certain custom beggining on the east coast and caribbe)

The legend is not related with the game, just gives some context.

And yes, I must improve the borders and territotories, but I just wanted to test first.

I'll correct that about Chipewyan and the Bahamas.

THX!

The bonus "Civilizated Tribes" should be spelled "Civilized Tribes."

Nice map. Maybe you can place french, spanish, british, dutch, and native superbonuses with symbolical values, not too much just 1-2.

I already started a game to test the map. If there are two more players who want to join, I can make another game for you.

Here you can see a sample of the blured box:

Ok, sorry.

The bonuses are not necessary related with a frozen time distribution. What was the New Netherlands until 1660s was later some of the 13 colonies.

In the same way, Lousiana (the french colony, not the US state) was not french until de 18th century, in fact New Orleans wasn't founded until 1718.

It's the same about many islands in the Caribbe wich possesion changed during the years.

I'd like to test this map.
A few notes:
While I like all the decorations this map has, I think you should leave out the ships and anchor in the sea, and the window with "De bello indiatum..." in it.
The first two are barely recognizable, and the last one is not easily readable, and it doesn't appear to serve any purpose in the map. I do like the border and the coats of arms though!
There are numerous missing connections in El Dorado, also:
Mexico - Mixe
Monterrey (Mexican Coast) - Huichole (how do you pronounce that name?)
Kiowa - Pawnee (Nuevo Mexico)
Sioux - Niitsítapi (High Plains)
Chipewayn - Ojibwa (High Plains)
Huron - Erie (Iriquois League)
Montreal - Central Cree and Montreal - Eastern Cree (Nouvelle France)
Massachusetts - New Amsterdam (New Netherlands)
Tuskegee - Koasati (Civilizated Tribes)

Also, you need connection lines in Canada.

Thanks for checking those too many links. I missed too much on the rush.

I will improve the infamous box, promise.

Huichole must be pronunced something like wee-choh-leh, acording to spanish spelling, wich I think must be the right one.

BTW today is october 12th, 520 years from the begining of the genocide depicted on the map. Nothing to celebrate.
