I know I should be glad that warlight's illiterati choose to bump Gui's threads rather than mine, but I'm still not.

I have to admit the execution is decent but the entire concept is terrible. First of all, the notion that if animals could talk, they would have such a poor grasp of grammar, which is very much speciesist. A tiger could rip you apart, and you think it couldn't handle first person pronouns? Show some damn respect.

Aside from the fact that the pattern is the same as the Cookie Monster, and that it is the same for all the different species. Which makes no sense at all. Then there's this:

The whole concept that players = animals is just so, so weak. I'm further irked by his obsession with ladder competiton. Such a miserable little thing to pay so much attention to. Anyway, with such a poor idea, it's little wonder that the jokes(?) are as poor as this:

Then he starts going on about what people thought about the presidential election, and doesn't even give some of them animals. He can't even maintain the already-loose concept, until it basically just descends into one-line summaries of what people have been saying on the forum, without any insight (or even perspective).

Just an abysmal thread all-round, it's even worse than my Cheat Codes thread which is the least-favourite of my threads. The structure of that was very similar but isn't as arbitrary as "um they are animals", since this is a computer game and those have cheat codes.

The scorn is because of all the people lining up to fellate this thread*, when it fails on every conceptual level. I think Gui is better than this, but he isn't likely to improve his standard with such an undiscerning audience. Plus I got left out. :(

This thread is popular because it appeals to lowest common denominators. Celebrities, insults and a charismatic protagonist. Same reason people like big brother or the MTV awards or almost any blockbuster film you could possibly think of.
