ahh...hate to break it to you JSA, but i believe that Ryan is a somewhat better player than you are, and he is also better than some of the players on that list.

Also, that list has a wide variety of skill levels of players. orinocoflows and [WM]Gnuffone are not anywhere close to being on the same skill level.

Um ARC, tbh, you really have no idea. I have played Ryan multiple times and have beat him every time. His ladder rating is in the 1600s. Mine is in the 1800s. I'm pretty sure I'm better than him...I don't see how anyone can say differently. I'm pretty sure Ryan realizes I'm better than him as well.

I don't think Ryan is better than any players on that list. Ryan is solid but those guys are all good. And Gnuffone is good at team games even if he isn't that great at 1v1. Him and Trilussa teamed up and beat Sze and Myhand at 2v2 today and neither of them is that great at 1v1. I really don't understand why you underestimate him so much.

I know for a fact you are completely wrong on the above post. You aren't a good enough player to have any idea of the skill level comparison between players that are a lot better than yourself.

Kereosa, Season 3 just finished. Some of the divisions took longer than others. I'll invite you to Proving Ground League A this season, as that is about the level I would guess you are at from how you did last season.

Was about to respond, but that is just a horribly arrogant post. Notice, I specifically tried to not be offensive in my last post, no need to rip on my playing skills. I don't want to start a war with you. Plus, you are soon going to start annoying some people by reincarnating [20], one of the oldest leagues in WarLight, and changing it to your own specifications a few minutes afterwards.

Arc, those lists were compiled from last season in [20] League B and the players will be similar to last season with possibly a few new additions. I'm not changing much of anything with [20] except making it double elimination tournaments instead of round robins which will allow more good players the time and motivation to play it. I don't see how this would annoy anyone. And for your information, it is easily the oldest league in warlight, with Proving Ground being second.

You were ripping my playing skills though by saying a guy ranked 35 on the ladder is somewhat better than me. You also said my post was flawed in many ways, when there was nothing wrong with it. It is the simple truth. I like Ryan and he's a nice player and I don't mind having him on my team. But he is not at the skill level as the B Leaguers in [20].

Rosa, You're ladder rating says you are pretty good but ladder ratings can be a bit deceiving when you are new to the ladder and have only played 15 games. I will look over some of your games and try to find what division you would be in. If I am unsure, will ask Sze and dunga to help me. I would guess you are at the level of Proving Ground League A but you might possibly be good enough for [20] League B. I'll have to check the games.

Rosa, I looked at five of your most recent 1v1 Ladder games and I would say you are at the Proving Ground League A level. So I will definitely invite you to those tournaments when I make them in a few weeks.

I, for one, really appreciate JSA's effort here. I don't think he'll change anything in [20] for the worse, mainly because he's always willing to take criticism on his ideas. By discussing things with the some of the oldest and best members of [20], I'm sure a good agreement on settings, members, and such will be determined.

So bottom line, for everyone else here, take it easy on him, he's doing his best. And secondly, thanks JSA!

I think 20 died because of the inactivity of its members, (me for example). So, unless you get new members into 20, nothing you do will change anything.

do you know these players' records against other players (who are top in your opinion) than you?
also, i'd like to hear how you decide who is good enough for [20] and who isn't (if "sze" or "gui" said, it doesn't matter, they have different opinions from other people like all of us) unless the player reached 1st in ladder.
i perfectly disagree with your lists.
first off, in my opinion some of the "top" players are not even "very good".
second off, some of the players that you put in B should be A.

For example, I have positive records against most of the league A players and you included me in B. there are more league B players im sure can beat the league A players (like Luxis) but i dont want to speak for them.
btw, i was invited to [20] A league but declined because i didnt like 2 of the templates, and in fact i dont want to join this group.

I agree anytime you have a list decided by someone (1 person, a group, etc), there will be omissions because it is opinion. Why not just let the ladder decide who is in that group?

I completely agree with brisk and I in my opinion he is a prime example of underrated players, though I dislike rating players at all. I think that rating players will be always hard, and it should be clear when someone does a "rating" that it is a personal opinion, no more. Because no one can speak for the whole community when it comes to rating someone as it is a mere opinion based on nothing but personal experience.

Also, I agree with Chris that the ladder serves as the best way to rate players on 1v1 Medium Earth. But it contains several flaws. Brisk mentions non-members, there are also players who can't find the time or are to bored with the template to play the ladder (e.g. me) or players who will get underrated only because they don't play that particular map all too often.

Brisk, It is definitely possible you will be up in A League this season. I was going off of who Gui invited last season as far as I could tell. That is why I am planning on having some anonymous judges pick which guys are in each division so that we don't have just one guy. The orginal idea was to have 5 of them. But I might up it to 7 if a lot of good players want to help judge. The way it sounds though, many A Leaguers from a couple seasons ago will decline again, and you and Luxis are definitely 2 of the first guys I would move up even if the judges agree you aren't good enough for A League right off the bat. I am unsure of who exactly the judges will be yet, but I have a few guys who will probably be. Once I get a panel of judges, then we will discuss who should be in A League and who will make it if a lot of the guys decline or have retired from warlight.
