He's handling himself well tactically; my advice would be to work some more on starting pick theory. The entire game can be decided by picks.

I found out: The closer your picks, the stronger.

We both picked the same area, but i ended up with more spots there, so I won!

A good player would have punished you for that.

Triple picking can be a problem: let's say you each get three starting bonuses. Two of them are "safe" in the far away spots on the map, but in one, you encounter your opponent early, and he manages to break through! If you have spread yourself out well, then you still have two out of three picks, but if you start all in the same area, you will soon have 0. He would roll through the first of your bonus and then discover the other two, and then the game would be over.

Triple picking can be very dangerous, because if you meet a well-prepared opponent early in the game, he will shred it.

People trying to teach someone better than themself by an order of several magnitude is quite funny.

Namib's picks are weird, but still good while being unusual, and his play is too impeccable to be believable. He's making three picks as a show as he knows he's picking things his opponent won't contest.
