@Moros:

In english scheveningen would make the right pronounciation.

@warflowvet:

Derivatives are the fundament of analysis. Since you ask about derivatives I'll assume you know what is a limit in mathematics. A derivative is basically a function that shows how another functions grow locally. It is easiest to look at them in on dimention, so by definition:

The function f' is defined by the following limit (if it exists) in point x0 for a given function f. If you look at the formula it basicaly compares the growth of function (the numerator) to the growth in the argument of function (denominator) on a very small scale. In other words it tells us how the function "behaves" locally. Let us consider an example with a standard f(x)=x^{2}

In this example we see that the growth of f behaves like a linear function 2x. For example at point x_{0}=2 f'(x)=4, so that means that at point 2 function f behaves like a linear function g(x)=4x locally. That is the easiest explanation I can come up with, it should suffice provided you know what a limit is. Sorry for bad quality of LaTeX, but I couldn't find a better online render to jpg.

As I said, linked directly or indirectly, but the more directly it will be linked to econ or maths the better i'll be able to respond.

Szew,
1) is it only me, or are those three equasions the same?
2) In my opinion "Shev a neengen" would make a better hint for english speakers - with "Shev" pronounced similar to first four letters of "Chevrolet", "a" pronounced like "e" in the word "spelled" and "g" like the first "g" in "engage" - i think it should be spelled ʃɛvɛni:ŋgen if using International Phonetic Alphabet. "Scheveningen" in my opinion would be closer in German.

Wow. I have seen WarLight act as many things, but never as a vehicle for mathematical tutelage.

Szew, can you mention your name in a video (a streamed live tourney) maybe? Or someone else who is confident of their pronunciation. A few weeks ago I was having a conversation with Fizzer about how to pronounce it while we were both watching the streamed live tournament. :P

If lethargy sets in, an alternative pronunciation is swingin'. But if so enunciated, do avoid redefining WM as White Men, to stay clear of the childish nickname of White Men swingin'.

Oliebol - you are partially right, as this is the pronunciation of the Scheveningen citie's name. But Sze named himself after a chess opening called after that city, but uses polish spelling and pronunciation of it.. Google translate does a pretty good job of pronouncing this word in polish ( http://translate.google.pl/#en/pl/szeweningen <-on the polish side, not english of course)

[W.hores M.olester] szeweningen since I am absolutely outraged against you, I will prove with a simple question your total ignorance about economic stuffs!!!
Much higher returns are achieved by stocks, but investments are still made in government bonds!!!
Explain us (poor sinners) the reason of this phenomenon!!!
