I would like to suggest to remove the total amount of times booted from the profile pages. Ignoring the different reasons why boots happen, this system "brands" players for past records from long ago forever without any opportunity to recover. This does not add any value, the only boot statistic that matters is the percentage of the near past. That one allows for a justified assumption of boot probability.

Additionally, the total boots statistic creates incentive to "start over" from an alt without the ugly number.

I suggest to keep only the percentage, for example: "Booted 3% of their last 100 games".

While we are at it could we a feature that allows hosts to boot players from their game after they have joined.

edit: +1 if we do boots over last 3mos

-1; boots over the past 100 games is far too short a window, especially for high-activity players who get through 100 games fast or low-activity players for whom the "100 game" window is <100 games (because the window also seems to have some sort of time-expiry logic, iirc). It's worth knowing people's numbers outside the 100 game window; for example, my 165 boots evidence my tendency to rack up boots when I retire from a high-activity period, which is 100% worth knowing if someone is considering inviting me to a longer-term event that I might abruptly retire in the middle of. I've only been booted in 1 of my last 100 games, but that has little predictive value when you consider I tend to rack up boots in batches of dozens at a time rather than have a stable boot rate.

Observers of a profile can choose to interpret the total boot count however they wish. The "branding" is done by the observers, not the system itself.

As a counterproposal, I think the "over 100 games" window should be expanded to "in last 3 months," with the total boot count dropped from profiles. Then the added value of the total boot count is minimal, because 3 months is forever on Warzone. "100 games" just don't work because that's not the same length of time for everyone.

the total boots statistic creates incentive to "start over" from an alt without the ugly number.
I'm not convinced this "starting over" would play out differently. Players start over to reset profile statistics in general, not just the boot count- in the casual scene, most of the "starting over" I've seen has been to reset win rate, not boot count. Boot count being the profile-tainting stat seems kind of rare, tbh, compared to stuff like win rate or name changes.

Additionally, the total boots statistic creates incentive to "start over" from an alt without the ugly number.

People that care that much about their profile stats need to restart once they lose their first game anyways, so if boot isnt visible they will just find something else to be sad about.

While we are at it could we a feature that allows hosts to boot players from their game after they have joined.

Yeah would be cool, but could also be abused. Like for example what if the host kicks someone from a team game and then starts the game?

boots over the past 100 games is far too short a window, especially for high-activity players who get through 100 games fast or low-activity players for whom the "100 game" window is <100 games (because the window also seems to have some sort of time-expiry logic, iirc). Yep, for someone like riskboy who is (or was) in 350 games at once, 100 games are gone in a few days or even as little as few hours.
Knowing how much people booted in total lets you look past temporary spikes of activity.

So it would be "In the last 3 months this player booted in xx% of their games" without naming how much boots then?

+1( dont look at my boots, I'm biased)

Booted 537 times (0% of their last 100). Thats more than I expected tbh

Could be something like:
Booted 12 times (3%) in the last 3 months

The greatest utility of a boot rate on display is to help hosts consider potential invitees. So the ideal boot rate signal communicated by Warzone is the one that has the most predictive value about who can be most relied upon to participate in a game or an event to completion.

Last 3 months instead of last 100 games works too imo, for the reasons you named :)

Yup, most of my boots are also from when i retire from time to time

I got mentioned for being high activity.... Which is quite true. I got booted from my CW game yesterday, and within 3 hours of it, my 100 game bootrate was down to 0 again.

also i havent been in 350 games at once since 2019

probably a step too far.
But I would wish to see all stats, not only boots also 1v1s, 2v2s ... depended on time.

Lets say I have been bad when I begun and played a lot games. I improved then. But I still have bad stats because of initial bad stats.

Statistics that is based on the last past months as it works on the ladders would be nice and show more the uptodate skills, activity and bootrate of a player.

I mean, if we are talking about the informative value of profile statistics, the key flaw is that most of them are completely irrelevant. My (say monthly) winrate went down from up to 85% to around 70% in the past years. Did I suddely suffer a skill decline? Maybe, but it might be worth paying attention to the fact that I stopped playing QM and started playing MTL. All my skill-based statistics/ratings went up instead.

Others are farming absolute beginners by picking opponents on Small Earth or playing manipulated custom scenarios, accomplishing winrates of over 90%. Once they are matched against a decent player, they suddenly have no chance anymore.

It's not like there were no ways to make the profile page numbers at least a bit more relevant. For example, it would be imaginable to replace the winrates with a general elo number for all games. Once you inflated your rating far enough by farming beginners, you would be unable to keep it up because it would stop pushing your rating even further due to your large rating difference compared to your opponents. Something like the MTL rating, just without any restrictions and simply for all ranked games with two equal teams (1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, 5v5...) excluding custom scenarios.
