Just for the fun of it (and to put JSA's list from here: http://warlight.net/Forum/Thread?ThreadID=58319&Offset=0 to use), I am going to do a competition based on the states. Here are the rules:

Round 1 - Players from each state will compete in a RR (I will limit this to first 10 people to sign up from a given state to limit the size) to win their state. Format will be 1v1 Ladder template.

Round 2 - State champs will compete in regions to go to the national tournament. This will again be 1v1 ladder format (but on MME), with a RR between the following state champions...

Regions (12):
NW - WA, OR, ID, MT, AK
SW - CA, NV, UT, AZ, HI
Mountain - WY, UT, CO, NM
South - TX, OK, AR, LA
Plains - ND, SD, NE, KS
SE - MS, AL, GA, FL
North - MN, WI, IA, MI
Central - MO, IL, KY, TN
Atlantic - SC, NC, VA, MD, DC
Valley - IN, OH, WV, PA
Metro - DE, NY, NJ, CT
NE - VT, RI, MA, ME, NH

Round 3 - National Championships with the winners of regions. This will be on 3 formats (1v1 Battle Islands, 2v2 Guiroma, 3v3 Europe) with most total points in Round 3 being crowned the winner.

If you are interested, please let sign up here. I will attempt to contact some of the smaller states, but the larger ones will be first come first serve. Please list what state you are competing for (to make it easier). Also, I may combine some states with little interest and possibly shift some states into another region (to make RR's a decent size). For example. If NE only has 5-6 players total for all the states, I will combine it as a single state and roll it into Metro region. ID/MT may have to be combined. States with a single player will have to be folded into another so we don't have 'cheap' champions. I will have to decide that after I see participants sign up.

OK, no need to post here anymore unless your state is not correct (some mentioned theirs was). Instead, join this:

http://warlight.net/MultiPlayer?TournamentID=12120

That will be considered signing up.

Slammy asked and makes a great point, you don't have to be in a clan. But you do need to be from the USA.

Also...NO ALTS

Join the tournament, but I will add you.

Also, if we end up having to combine some states, I may do winner and runner up advance to round 2, just to make the 2nd round large enough. We shall see once everyone signs up.

How is it racist? By only being american? There are lots of races in USA.

There is already a Nations Cup for international play.

Well we could do just solo games but that does not test teamwork at all. I put off team games until the 3rd round so only region champs would be in play, thus competative teams. Do you think it should be all solo?

If anyone wants Round 2 in map form, here's it overlaid with the clan map. Apparently, though, Utah doesn't know where it's supposed to be.

(NE [Red] and SE are supposed to be NW and SW, sorry)

And totals for regions...
NW: 39
SW: 98 (114 with Utah)
MT: 25 (41 with Utah)
SO: 69
PL: 11
NO: 74
CE: 108
SE: 83
VA: 92
AT: 85
ME: 99
NE: 40

Only problem with team games is that you are really dependent on who you are paired with. It can't be an even playing field no matter what. I think it should be 1v1 personally.

Ok, we can keep it all solo games no problem.

Thanks for the map Riyamite. I will remake the regions once we have a good idea of the number of players from each state

I was actually planning on using my list to have state competitions and a whole USA competition but with a different format :(

My idea was to follow a format more like the Olympics. As in 10-15 different settings ranging from 1v1 to 3v3 and you can represent your state in any that you choose and each tournament will be played in an elimination format with games manually set up. At the end, around 20 players win gold medals and whichever state has the most gold medals is the "champion state".

I don't know if we can do them both at the same time :( kinda makes me mad that I didn't write my plan for this event earlier :( I'll make a chat game with Chris and we can figure out how this can work so they don't interfere with each other.

I posted the suggestion in your thread, but you did not answer. You must have missed it but i figured you were not interested. Go ahead and run yours, we can use my invite list to get it started

Connecticut isn't included in New England by the way. Which is technically not correct, but the rest of NE will probably not care. Connecticut is the butt of many jokes in the north country.

Connecticut doesn't deserve to be in New England. Too many New Yorkers to be allowed in.

100% agree, Connecticut is Tri state in my book, they are not NE.

Also, this map seems pretty analogous to population across the US...except for Utah. Warlight big among the Mormons? I've ran into all kinds of Mormons here in Korea, so I've seen them in stranger places.
