I'm like 100% sure aircraft carriers are meant to hold aircraft, not decimate fleets.

Is everyone on this post forgetting that each carrier group has multiple attack subs and numerous anti-submarine aircraft and surface ships as part of its compliment? The hunters are also the hunted.

Blaze said it exactly. Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) has made great advances as have submarine technology, but you are forgetting something myhandisonfire. Carriers have multiple escorts and they do not engage fleets. They use Carrier Air Groups to damage them from hundreds of KMs away.

A pack of subs will not encounter a carrier alone.

Carriers have multiple escorts and they do not engage fleets.

Next time read the articles linked before you argue, the submarines in question all bypassed the carrier escorts undetected. Your post just prove my point of how overexaggerated the detection capabilities of modern submarines are.
Besides, carriers of course do engage fleets, thats one of their main mission profiles, the ability to destroy enemy fleets with their bombers hundreds of miles away.

Unless I am mistaken, the carriers do not engage enemy fleets. The aircraft that are on them do.

it is realatively easy to cripple a carrier, but very few nations (China) can actually properly destroy an aircraft carrier without the submarine. So what you should do is accompany the aircraft carrier with at least two subs so that you can defend against anything short of a nuclear assault or a DF-21 (non-nuclear version). And carriers can shoot torpedos anyway I believe.

Think again, it takes a single modern submarine to take them out, even without a nuclear attack.

I`m just gonna say it, but a freaking Carrier is a boat. A fucking boat. You can sink those. You can do it with a spoon if you have enough patience. YOu make a hole in it. Once again, its just a big boat.
