Polygamy shouldn't be banned. It should be allowed (non-criminalized) even if the government doesn't recognize polygamous relationships as marriage.

In a perfect world where no one would abuse the system, I would want the government to also recognize polygamous relationships as marriages. However, I believe the potential for abuse is high enough that I am mostly opposed to government recognition of it.

Certain Muslim countries allow it but put multiple requirements on it to discourage it. I consider that to be a completely acceptable way to go about it.

I think that governments should only let men get married to multiple wives if the wife he is already married to lets him.

There are many benefits to polygamy for a man. For example, sometimes one wife might be menstruating.
Obviously, in most places they call it "blow-job week" for a reason.
However, in Islam oral sex is not allowed, so to avoid adultery.

Nowadays there is a huge gap between women and men number. Millions of women in each countries are without marriage.If the authorities and government will not encourage polygamy , what will be the destiny and fate of those women.
They are humans and they have needs. I believe that women shouldn't be selfish and they should think of the others also.

The answer is no. Putting moral objections aside (and polygamy is morally wrong on so many levels), it's not practical at all. The amount of economic headache and abuse that recognizing polygamy would create is extreme.

think it depends partly on where you live, and what part of culture your in.

It is estimated that roughly 30 to 60% of all married individuals (in the United States) will engage in infidelity at some point during their marriage (see, Buss and Shackelford for review of this research). And these numbers are probably on the conservative side, when you consider that close to half of all marriages end in divorce (people are more likely to stray as relationships fall apart; also see, who is likely to cheat).

I suppose in some places in rural environments, extramarital affairs are less common, but in urban environments, it is extremely common. Literally every man has more than one relationship going at a time.

I live in the middle of nowhere-ville, which is in the middle of conservative america, in the center of the bible-belt. in this small part of america, "adultery" is less common.
