I'd probably rank them: IV, V, III, VI, II, I

III is good, but I have several issues with it.

1) Padme/Skywalker dialog sucks. Their dynamic is nothing like Han Solo/Leia in the originals

2) Why would Obi Wan leave Skywalker there like that to burn to death? Seems like the Jedi way would be to end his suffering right then. Plus obviously it is sloppy to assume someone is defeated.

III seemed to be the most dramatic and captured my attention more than the others. So I'm going with that one.

Because anakin would've died. The emperor didn't tell anakin the story about his former master being able to keep people alive with the force for anakin's benefit. The emperor hoped to have that power.

He used that power to keep anakin alive.

Considering some people actually pick movies from the prequel trilogy, I'd like to share my favourite new trilogy related cinematic experience:

Watch this part and then continue to other parts.

Adam, I think you are missing the point. Clearly he had to live because he is in IV-VI. I'm not asking why he lived there in regards to the plot. I am asking what the Jedi code would be in a situation like that. Would you end the dying person's suffering OR attempt to save him (I doubt this as he already declared him completely gone...as a sith at that point)? Walking away just doesn't seem Jedi like. That is all.

It was a faltering in Obi-Wan's emotions and feelings. Until a few hours ago, Anakin was his best friend; now he was battling to the death with him.

Qui gon jinn was Obi Wan's master. Qui gon believed Skywalker to be the one from the prophecy who was ment to bring balance to the force. He even gave his life so that the prophecy may be fulfilled. I believe that Obi Wan respected his master so highly that he continued Anakin's training so that he could fulfil the prophecy. If you think about it Anakin does to a degree fulfil the prophecy. He may not have killed the emperor (because the books tell us he has clones of himself) but he did buy time for Luke to help nurse the jedi order back.

phantom menace, attack of the clones, and revenge of the sith were all terrible, and are a prime example of what happens when you give amazing actors a terrible script.

Revenge of the Sith is not terrible at all. It has the best actions scenes. It has all events that lead up to episode four. The birth of Darth Vader. It shows us why Luke and Leia are separated.

Plus, it adds a mythos to Star Wars, which is already a mythos (Palpatine talking about Darth Plaegius). That is very appealing to me, who dived into the expanded universe of Star Wars.

a mythos we didnt need!

none of which we needed to know!

Vader, yoda, and boba fett were all given shitty prequel stories when the reasons they were cool to begin with was how little we knew about them.

Always been Empire Strikes Back for me. Like many pre-millennial star wars fans, I disliked the I-III prequels but I acknowledged that they had good points. I'm hoping the next three can polish the tarnished universe.

To me, the soul of Star Wars was first and foremost the Thrawn Trilogy by Timothy Zahn. The expanded universe novels build on Lucas's work in a way that no prequels ever could. Now I consider Star Wars to be more like a mythology than a single canonized storyline.
