Who was your favorite empire to exist? This doesn't have to be who you think was the best, simply who you like more.

My favorite empire is Alexander the Great's Macedonian Empire. This man acquired more land than Rome had ever owned, constantly fighting against 10 to 1 odds. There's that story about him cutting through the Gordian knot. Hell, he took the land in the east because there was nothing better to do. That is why his empire is my favorite.

Yes, I know it didn't last long, and practically died along with the late Alexander himself, but like I said, they're my favorite, not necessarily the best.

I can tell you my least favorite Empire: America.

Yeah, the US entered the Imperialism era a bit late, and it was uninteresting and kind of shit. Not my favorite, either.

Favourite: Portuguese. I loved it.

Rome is amoung my favorite empires. It's revolutionary military tactics (at the time) is what drove Rome to the glory for which it was well known. The rigorous training and battle techniques is what helped shaped the army into the fighting machine that was rivaled by few.

Alexander had a phalanx. Persia didn't. True story.

I would say Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth, but that wasn't an empire. In that case, I'll say Austrian Empire, Achaemenid Persia is s close second.

For me it's either the Roman Empire or the British Empire. The Roman Empire for being one of the greatest in ancient times (next to the Mongols), and the British since their empire has had the most effect on present day.

First french Empire

British Empire - Such a small nation with such a large empire, Britain ruled the waves. It's also been a massive influence on the modern day/world.

Hellenic is more or less the neutral way to say it. If you say "Macedonian" Empire, there is a large chance some idiot Greeks and Macedonians will start arguing over whether Alexander was Greek / Macedonian, blah blah Vardar, blah blah.

Oh, I see. I'll keep that in mind from now on. But, Macedonia was a city-state of Greece, wasn't it? That would make him Greek, right?

Macedonia was of Greek culture and is more connected to modern Greece then modern Macedonia.
