You could also consider leadership quality in determining a clan's grade. Let's say a completely inactive leader is a failing grade, and Darklordio a D+.

But... what grade would one give to Apex????? Apex: the one clan who can exist peacefully with 100% of the members given manager rights

Man it's hard at times. Sometimes we hold secret meetings without Miyagi in order to decide whether or not Miyagi should have manager rights.

You should defect to the DARKLORDS so you don't have to worry about being usurped!

@FK If leadership quality were gradable, knyte would have an A, and Blortis would have an A+. Darklordio would have a failing grade, because an inactive leader is a lot better than Darklordio.

I hate excluding all this bias.

No, not at all. Darklordio is the most successful manager of any clan on Warlight, he goes for a more count approach than others do, though, and that's a valid approach. In my opinion, Darklords get way more flak than they deserve.

I still think you need to separate out activity and achievements. How those are lumped together I don't know. There can be clans like [20] with a huge amount of achievements and low activity. Clans like Poonsquad with a lot of activity and low achievements, and clans like WG and GG that have high levels of both.

Why group them? It seems to me by doing so you devalue that category entirely.

It is really too bad because this could be a really fun and interesting series, if only you scored things accurately.

This is your current setup...

Informative Clan Page: (letter grade)
Clean/Mature Reputation:(letter grade)
Member Benefits: (letter grade)
Clan Activity: (letter grade)
Unity/Achievements:(letter grade)
X Factors: (letter grade)
Overall Clan Quality: (#/10)

Why use a mix of letters/number score? Why not give each category a number score, then add it all up in the overall total? When you do Clan Page, are you looking at secondary pages (like ours, REGL)?

Here are my suggestions for this series:

1) Put a link to the clan in your post. There are over 100 clans on WL, some can be hard to find on the listing page

2) Take the rankings seriously and use metrics (like ones Knyte posted). Nobody will take this serious if you do stupid things like giving paper tigers an A+ for their website (which is a gambling help site) or giving a clan an achievement score of A when their ladders ratings are all terrible. How are you even evaluating member benefits (have you asked those leaders how their clans are run...like members vote, leader just makes all decisions, etc)?

3) Don't weight everything the same. Some things are more important than others

3) Break out the categories better like this...

Website/Page: (#/5) - message stated clear, additional webpage?
Leadership: (#/10) - whether 1 person or many, is there clear direction?
Reputation: (#/10) - is the clan respected, not a measure of skill
Member Benefits: (#/5) - members have say in clan goals, leadership positions available
Activity: (#/10) - actively playing games (Knyte has statistics on this)
Teamwork/Unity: (#/20) - do players work together, clan pride
Achievements: (#/20) - ladders, custom leagues (Knyte has statistics on this)
Contributions to WL:(#/20) - Maps, Uservoice, training, answering questions on forums, custom leagues

Total: (#/100)

Perhaps it'd be best if you didn't even give grades/scores but instead focused on providing as much meaningful, useful information as possible- all within context, of course. That would make these analyses even more valuable.
