actually you can do (almost) everything if you Combine Internet and app. mails are accessible via normal Internet on the phone. i agree that an update would be great tough. the app crashes everytime i had a game open and i reopen the app or open a game on the Internet and i get redirected to the app. Also some maps have dark places and won't load them until you zoom in a lot

I actually find the ads on mobile to be less intrusive than on PC. The ads show up on my phone in a banner above the gameplay area, whereas on PC they pop up into the actual game screen. I thought no I've just gotten used to ignoring three top of my screen on the phone

True , it needs an update ATS an outdated WL : 3.8.1 , I am forced to live with it till I get a PC

Edit : I am forced to play on mums potato PC , which crashes every 2 mins just to do everything

Oh Chris yeah messaging would be key too, I forgot to mention that in my original post. I try to check the mobile site as often as possible, but if I'm busy on a weekend or travelling, I might not see a message or tournament invite until days later.

Every update to the game should be reflected on the app. Its been over a year, the app should be up to date.

I actually don't have ads on the mobile app :P

But I use the app mostly when I am in class, on the way or waiting. And that is also where it is meant for I think.

There isn't even any music, but there's sound. Also, you can't see your opponents' picks, when going through the history of a game.

I've got to use the app so that I don't get booted and being able to take part in the ladders and CLOTs. I can only access my laptop on weekends.

Also there are FAR more important things that need to be done other than a crappy phone app update right now. The app works but if you want to be serious about WL then realistically you should play on a Computer.

How anyone can play serious strategy on a phone screen is far beyond me.

You can still do everything on the phone, just use a browser on it for the mail, forums, etc.

If Fizzer had any sense of business - which he clearly does given the slew of changes done against the will of the community and in favor of earning more money - then he would spend a lot more time developing the app.

Hymen: what are these more important changes you'd like to see? Honestly, if I had to choose, I still prefer playing on mobile, since I'm not home very much and don't have computer access most of the time. But there are a few features, as myself and others have mentioned in this thread, that would make the app that much better.

I disagree that you need to use PC if you want to be "serious" about this game. Actually, I'd say playing on mobile would actually be MORE helpful if you're that serious, since you could take your turns more frequently. But in any case, it's a relatively simple game that doesn't require a very powerful device to run, nor does it require basically any RAM. But the convenience of playing on mobile is what's going to attract new players. As someone said before, mobile gaming is the future. And if significant updates aren't made to the app, Warlight is missing out on a pretty significant customer base.

PS - slightly unrelated message to the Windows phone crowd: I've been in your shoes. I was on team BlackBerry for 4 years before I switched to Android. If apps are important to you, don't get a phone where most developers don't create anything for that operating system.

1. I didn't say you NEED to use a pc to be serious. I said it is far beyond me. If anything that would have been a compliment but whatever. You guys always take stuff the wrong way from me. Pretty sure it's on purpose at this point.

Mobile gaming isn't the future. It's been around for a long time, It is just another step. While I understand people want improvements they really shouldn't be priority unless suddenly the main player base are phone users, which I highly HIGHLY doubt.

Phone is used kind of only when I'm about to be booted and have no access to a computer. They really are kind of a last resort for me, and I think that's one of the only reasons it's there. The other reasons are probably smaller, or not important enough to Fizzer.

Today i downloaded an update for the app. It works even worse now. It still crashes when i re-open it bit also it gives me everytime an error when i end a turn by watching history. (After every turn i need to close the error to start watching the next turn of the history)

Just updated the app and there's ads now, no surprising but it wasn't mentioned in the update info.
