This kind of idea also went through my head as a fantasy map with the different countries being Warlight Clans. The more members a clan has, then bigger it would be with every member having his own territory:
You could have this map with three continents: Troll, RP, and strategic. Then you could have mixed clans a acting as the bridges, for example, ILLUMINATI could be a bridge between troll and strategic, CORP could be a bridge between RP and strategic, etc. Obviously the map creator would have to decide which clans go where, but each clan could have a "capital" territory (like ChrisCMU's city centers) that is shaped like its logo, then perhaps territories for each player, or for notable players, etc. You could even have certain players with tons of alts in different clans be their own bonuses, spread out among various clans.
I honestly doubt that you could even make a map with each player having their own territory. Way too big I think.
@Omega, That would make the Darklord bonus too big. I also don't think it accurately represents the influence of some of the smaller clans (WG, Apex, Turtles, etc). I'd argue that people give more respect to WG than Darklords.
EDIT: @Master, if you want Illuminati to have a troll aspect, there will have to be some historical bonuses linked with it. The current clan has nothing to do with trolling, so if a troll bridge is to exist, there'll have to be some Hidden Hand related bonuses.
@OxTheArtist Omega's idea is fine just put as many territories as clan members then give value to the territory based on skill level I.E Masters,WM,WG,GG give them high bonus value like 10 for a 10 bonus then for the darklords give them like 100 value for their 400 plus members.
Yeah - as bonus links keeps it cleaner. I don't like maps that are ugly for the sake of a gimmick or theme. If we're going to look at it over and over, might as well might it look nice. Logos as bonus links (or just a legend next to each link) would keep it classy :-)
chrisCMU, it seems like your map is limited to strategic clans, which makes it kind of less appealing to me.^^ Omega your sketch looks pretty cool. If you ever want to realize this map, it would be awesome to see the roleplayers guild as well, maybe a remote mysterious isle with secret pathes to each city hall of the foreign realms. =)
sry for the double post but 21st gets more attention than the 20th. I would suggest to create a clan map on the base of omegas sketch, where each clan nominates its map maker, who contributes a realm to the map. For example omega gives the outline of the realm to said mapmakers and they return the realm with its territories and names.
Thats kinda is like my idea. Evry clan create there own part of the clanmap and one player in charge of the clanmap will put the pieces together. I would be willing to create the part for GG.
That would be a big pain unless they were all islands or you have to put fill between all these non matching separate drawings. Anyway, i am continuing with mine. My plan is to just have leaders name their territories
Ranek why do you think my map is limited to strategic clans? It would have all. The plan was to have each type dispersed actoss the map, so a type is not grouped. So i started with the major strategic ones first at the time.
oh, good to know. in this case Im looking forward for your project. ^^ It wouldnt be such a pain if you give every mapmaker an outline of its realm. so you only have to put them together like puzzle, in the end.
I agree Ranek, except that we have a lot of clans. Even if I limit it to around 70 of the most active (which I think I will), it would still be a admin nightmare. After doing the clan league, I can't imagine the headache of trying to get each clan to submit them.
I will certainly get their input on naming though. I just went through and redid my list of clans, bonus amounts, etc because a lot has changed.
70 is a pretty good number. After the 70 I have, I can't even name a person from the other ones (either from a ladder or forum). So it should be a pretty good cutoff.
