A post melt Australia would be cool, Australia gets a new inland sea! :)

But yeah, a large-ish Australia map for Diplos would be great, no-one really covered the colonisation of Australia that I know of...

Could do what MrOobling did, and just make both while really only making one map. The strategic version is not bad either.

-How big? Know that, with me, I probably will not make anything bigger than 600 territories: I do not like to make, or try to make, huge maps. I would go up to, including, and perhaps exceeding that number a little bit. Or would you rather have a smaller, more strategic focused map?

I would prefer a map of a decent size for 1v1's and 2v2's.

-Any tiers of bonuses?

Preferably no superbonuses, unless they're worth 1 or 0.

-Do you want me to do a Diplomacy based or Strategical based map?

Strat

-Do you want me to include city bonuses?

If you mean 1:1 bonuses, they can be turned off like in guiroma. So I would not mind.

The fact that most of those towns on the left probably have a population under 1,000 people doesn't matter.

Three random google searches gives populations of 4,861, 778 and 40! Turnips wins 0 dollars!

The more the merrier.

-Do you want me to do a Diplomacy based or Strategy based map?

Something useable for both would be ideal, but I only really care about strategy.

-Do you want me to include city bonuses?
Yes please.

-Anything else you would like to see?

Multiple Distribution Modes would be awesome.

Multiple Templates would be a plus.

Sharing the SVG files and other blueprints of your work with other map makers is always awesome.

The maps noted in this thread would seem to be of much help. :)

Thank you for all of your work thus far. :)

Wow, lord of turnips, that is quite the bit of information... tbh I was never expecting a response like this out of this thread... seems people really want a nice aussie map. Thanks!

Since many people are leaning towards the diplomacy map, it is unquestionable that I will make one. However, my favored style of play, strategical, really makes me want to make a strategy map... so I will make a version of both. I will make them as large as I can manage without it becoming too unbearable for me...

Expect a long-term project. I will probably work on a small map once in a while in order to break from the tediousness this project will present to me. I will, however, make it as big as I can bear. Since it is easier to create a diplo map from a strategic than a strategic from a diplo, you can expect the strategic version will come out first.

If you still want to input on the questions, please feel free to. I value the opinions of the community

This is a good political map of Australia- only problem is, some are too big, while others are too small. Maybe combine certain territories?

How big? About 200 to 300 territories.

Any tiers of bonuses? Just normal bonuses, no megabonuses or superbonuses

Strategic based please (who wants to RP Australia...)

City bonuses? Depends what you mean. If you mean like Imperium Romanum, then sure. If you mean like 12 Cities, then no.

Anything else? Yes, yes, yes, yes. Use Geographic features. Have deserts not part of the map. Have mountains and rivers stop some territories from connecting to each other. Use the geography of Aussieland to your advantage!

Hmm, have not seen an Australia map played.

My suggestion is no bigger than 300, or else people won't play it strategically. Also, since there are not any natural choke points (like large bodies of water, irregular shapes), I would suggest adding some non-territory areas to create choke points. I don't know geography there, but maybe if there are some natural features like deserts or mountains to be used as non-territory areas.

@OxTheArtist- Thank you! now I have a means for choke points! I would have never thought of that! Thank you so much for the idea.

@-chriscmu... my thought was to make a 200-300 strat map, then make it bigger, divide a bunch of territories, and make a diplo out of it, to appease both crowds.

I love your ideas, guys! Keep rolling them in!

If you don't allow deserts then you will just have a ring, that is why I recon to have deserts as lower or slightly negative bonuses, and there are quite a few rivers particularly on the west coast. Also, I'm not that sure if some people realise how big it is.

Take a look at Poland Big map thats a very cool idea and size fits your profile. Bonuses with citys with in it that make bonuses.

Love this idea! Instead of removing the desert from the map, I prefer the idea of making the individual territories worth negative. This will give the players an option of creating their own chokepoints, or to lose income quickly. I would prefer that the map be strategic, with super-bonuses the shape of the states, all worth zero, in order to make the shapes easy to identify. Definitely use geographical features. I'd like to see what you do with the great dividing range!
