I tried playing this. I like the idea of a "war of attrition".

I don't think it's a very good scenario, however.

Problems:

1. The map's bonuses are too small for the numbers of armies you've placed on the map. The numbers all overlap each other, and it's a mess. This makes it almost impossible (and in some cases truly impossible) to even see how many armies you are moving around. Extremely annoying and ugly.

2. What's the point of having Recon, Surveillance, and Spy cards when you already know the layout of the entire map from the first turn? You're in Jerusalem; your opponent has 2 armies in every other territory. But I'm forced to use these cards on a regular basis, to no real advantage. Annoying.

3. On a larger scale, the scenario seems rather boring. In the early game, there are very few interesting choices to make: you may as well expand in all directions, and you already know all your attacks will succeed, so watching the turns is almost pointless. This makes the early game kind of a dud.

Somewhere in the mid-game, things can get interesting, as your shrinking forces finally become threatened by the AI's production. This part of the game is solid.

Should you succeed and go on to the endgame, due to the size of the map, things get incredibly tedious. You'll know the outcome of the game by the time you've matched the AI's income; the rest is just pointless clicking.

In my opinion, this scenario needs to be remade, on a smaller map and without the pointless cards. Maybe make it a no fog map (or, if you keep the fog, at least throw in some surprises).

Just use the AI to make the turns for you, that's gonna be the only point of the autopilot really...

If you run Wunderwaffe or Cowzow (or just check all autopilot AI's and pick the one that makes the best move), you can seriously destroy some of the weaker players on this site. Even some of the decent ones.

:P It's almost "pay to win" now, and would seriously screw up competitive events that involve weaker players.

I think the livestream you're referring to was AI vs. AI. Both players were only using them to see if one was better. Cowzow? was terrible

Sephi beated one dude with it, he had no AI, he wasn't a member. I did play an AI-AI game with him though. The skill level of the AI is still shitty, but it made a few good moves. Like 1/10.

I'd say Wundewaffe would be rated 1200-1300ish on the ladder though. Better then a few players indeed... The big issue with it, is that the bot is still very limited. It crashes in any game that has a setting it doesn't support, like some cards for example.

Sephiroth,

You should try it.

It's actually the other way around:

This scenario is ridiculously easy. With 100,000 armies, you could probably let an AI play for you and still win the scenario.

This makes it the most boring Warlight scenario ever, unfortunately. Just hours and hours of clicking.

But pretty much a guaranteed win. I played it up until the moment I matched the AI's income, and my army total never went below 70,000 (approx), while I don't think the AI ever managed to accumulate more than a total of about 4,000 on the whole map.
