If you haven't noticed, a player is spamming the forums under the name of "Fiztler" or whatever. This is completely ridiculous, because his previous account was banned about an hour ago, he just made a new account and started posting in 5 minutes.

We need to not allow this, either one of the two things need to happen to keep this forum an active place:

1. Restrict posting with a used IP, takes the highest level player under an IP.

2. Restrict posting for all players under level 20, or have purchased a membership. Create a member-only forum.

Personally, I would love a level 50 requirement all the trash posts/threads are made my players under 50 and I think the forum privilege of being able to post on the forums regardless of what level you are has just been abused by childish alts and spam bots.

This is also talking about other incidents not just spam bot or some guy thread spamming.

EDIT: 50 seems too high probably I would say atleast 20-30 levels.

The real solution really is a thread limit and enforce it to 3 a day, You really don't need to make more than 3 threads a day unless you are using WarLight as your personal facebook!

Details may be wrong but the concept IMO works fine.

EDIT 2: Advanced warning don't click into that link in spam, It's well disturbing in a dark web way :p

I agree with Platinum. A limitation of how many threads you can create within 24 hours should greatly reduce the problem.

No one needs to create more than 2 threads every day.

Why would spammers not just create 2 or more accounts to make their threads? Problem not solved.

Having it on a higher level would just cause them to make their posts on the help forum. And the help forum can't have a level requirement imo

A heightened level requirement is too limiting. Acquiring level 20-30 can be done in an hour if someone knows efficient ways to get points.

Increasesing the number of moderators is most viable, as the framework is already in place it is easier than developing a new spam control feature.

Edit: I' surprised no one has suggested a captche for non-members. It should increase the value of most posts

Sadly it didn't work here "ignoring the troll"

@MoD It's like someone making countless amount of alts and leveling up to get 100 free coins to eventually make enough and withdraw free money, If you are willing to spend a vast amount of time to do such a thing, You can have it as it is just a waste of time and energy and makes the person feel stupid in the end of it. Make them work hard to troll ;) Put in this rule and by the time they create all the alts it will backfire hard on them in the end.

I think a cool improvisation is instead of having a certain limit maybe put in a feature for a "thread cooldown" where you have to wait a certain time before posting a new thread. Although tbh with good moderation it's not that useful I would like to think it would be some kind of filter for crap threads.

Probably not needed now but it would prevent incidents like that which is a waste of time for all parties involved.

Most people agree forum needs serious reforms.

One or more of this ideas should help:

  • membership or ~30 lvl to post on forum other then help. Some people may need help forum but the rest can be just searched for lower level players.
  • limit for threads or posts per day/week etc.
  • some more mods
  • IP restricions
  • end with multiple acounts
  • Increase time between any two posts or edits of one player
  • certain number of days after registration after which you can start posting. like a week should be enough

None of them can guarantee success though.

The most important thing is to get Fizzer see the problem and act (in any way)

EDIT: Not feeding troll won't work. There is always someone who will reply. Or another troll who will feed it. And they will feed each other with shit and live happily.

Fizzer as slang is more in southern parts of Australia. In Queensland and Northern Territory there are two types of lollies called 'Fizzers', but that is more because of the first definition.

realistically there's no way that can lock said people out without damaging the everyday player/poster, so the best course of action is to just report and not feed the trolls. Everytime a thread like this is posted, one of the goons in those many skype groups will show to the other goons while comenting "look at this cuck" "lol ___ is such a pussy" "why are people such bitches in the forums?" "where's my freedom of speech?", and after they're done discussing among them, they come to haunt the thread.

Increasing level cap to post only delay alt creation, rather then stop it.

Should there be a database where alts are recorded and traced back so Fizzer can ban bad alts

Create a member-only forum.

Would this be a forum that only members can contribute?
Would non-members be able to read it?

fizzer (ˈfɪzə)
n
1. anything that fizzes
2. slang Austral a person or thing that disappoints, fails to succeed, etc: the horse proved to be a fizzer.

https://www.warlight.net/Press
Created, developed and operated by a single person, Randy Ficker, Warlight has since its launch in 2008 become a quiet phenomenom, with more than 9,600,000 multi-player games played so far.

'Fizzer' is much better than 'Randy Ficker'

... believe me
