I have to agree with Tabby on this one. Power always finds a place to find it's head. Furthermore this only strengthens USA as dirty energy is cheaper, less money wasted, and relatively few lives (in USA) killed from it.

people who don't believe in climate change are becoming more and more of a minority.

Of course I believe the climate can change.

Of course it does, everything else is utter nonsense, but the whole thing is not about climate change, which is a constant process until the earth dies. It rather is about global warming due to the anthropogenic influence on increasing CO2 emissions - which is still uncertain from a scientific point of view. But obviously fossil fuels are a limited resources and will soon be spent, which is the real issue here. Marching blind and unprepared towards this global catastrophe can only be a valid choice for the most retarded asshole on this planet!

this is the cutest recent stunt of those of whom who like to spit in the face of the scientific consensus.

"Of course the climate changes, but humans aren't responsible for it!"

I guess it's just a coincidence that the change of the global climate has been completely in line with the planet's population puking out CO2 faster than you can say "Bush did 9/11".

You people are very foolish.

You think American hegemony is bad? Wait until Russia and China fill the power gap. I'm tempted to make an entire thread dedicated to showing you how much the world would go to crap if the U.S collapses. Honestly, if you think life for everyone is going to improve with a failed United States you're unbelievably ignorant.

As for the Paris Agreement, the intent is nice but in practice the entire thing is garbage. For starters, it's non-binding. There's nothing that forces signers to comply and nothing to prevent nations from lying about their progress. Secondly, what on Earth is making people praise China as some environmental savior? They have the largest pollution output in the world, and it's growing rapidly. Their major cities are choking in smog and often the air quality descends to levels that are medically dangerous. If China is the nation you've chosen to lead the world into an environmentally friendly future we are all certifiably boned.

I want to fight climate change, but the Paris Agreement was a load of bogus. A bunch of feel-good sentiment that accomplished nothing overall.

There is no magic powder in the USA that makes it more moral and better than if any other state filled it

Secondly, what on Earth is making people praise China as some environmental savior?

the muchness they invest in clean energies.

I didn't say the U.S was inherently better, but a quick look at Russia and China's domestic and foreign policies should be enough to show anyone that their dominance would only be of equal suffering if not worse.

"The muchness they invest in clean energies"

Yeah, how's that been working so far? Their cities are buried in air pollution and most of their major rivers suffer from heavy contamination.

since when is this thread about whether or not American hegemony is bad?

how much the world would go to crap if the U.S collapses.

the world didn't go to crap when the USSR collapsed. although people would argue with that..

Secondly, what on Earth is making people praise China as some environmental savior? They have the largest pollution output in the world, and it's growing rapidly.

and Trump got their backs now. great! lets gamble the economic future and bet on the decrepit nag and support coal mining rather than renewable energy sources. that's the new revolutionary American way, these days. you guys supposed to be pointing the way. but nobody will follow a sinking ship.

In terms of environnemental policies, China beats the US any day. True, they pollute twice as much as America, but guess what, there's 4 times more people living in China than in America.

Americans thus pollute twice as much as China. And then, the Chinese at least believe that the climate is changing and that it's a problem, where does America stand? China has also the first position when it comes to total environnemental spending, as a % of the GDP it's also way ahead of America.

Oh and yea, America being weaker in the international stage is definetly a good thing, the country was the world's leading superpower since WW2, and coincidentaly, everytime something went bad America was envolved into some extent.

It's inevitable that the American position is condemned to shrink with all the emerging countries. The only thing that Trump could do is to slow down the process or accelerate it depending on which policies he decided to put forwards. It seems more and more like your president choose the second option...

I won't make the case that Russia or China are better, because they are not. But it's very well possible that a more equilibrated world stage ends up being more stable.

Power vacuums are never stable. The loss of the world's leading superpower will always cause instability and chaos.

Now your education system tells you you are the "leading superpower"? Leading what? Military spending? That's where you are leading.
