it seems like a lot of people suddenly have somewhere to be right when they've clearly lost the game. yet it's extremely rare for people to have somewhere to be when they are winning the game.

Meh, don't see to often a gtg but especially in 1v1 some players quitting the turn they have lost.

Yeah your opponent was clearly losing, but I can't tell if he was putting on a facade because he can't handle the loss or if he genuinely had to go and believed he was winning. I'd probably go with the former, unless he's just really really stupid.
