Hellbender, the only bonus in Spain worth taking is Portugal, and chances are there is already an opponent there. I would suggest backups in the small German Areas whih have a higher priority than in Spain. The Italian states are good too, and you should probably have at least one teammate there.

I cannot see why you think Ireland is good, because it is nearly impossible to defend it. Better use those two picks in Iceland and in another area other than the north (e.g. Germany or Italy).

2.) Iceland
3.) Norway/England
4.) Italy/Germany
5.) Back-ups

All picks rely on luck (at least if your enemy is in your territory) but relying HEAVILY on lucky picks never works. You should find a strategy that works for you most of the time (because you probably can't get lucky all the time) and therefore you will be able to not rely too much on lucky picks.

i get where your coming from but i think ireland is easily defended if your so scared then you also include the english territory in ireland and one other irish terriory instead then you make the same pick i winn most of those games tht way

@Yuri Sincerely,the main reason you won is that you opponents' picks were horrible..Spain is just not worth the effort and the Ottoman Empire is in 95% of cases not conquered. Austria was a pretty good pick, but very risky and needs a close(geographically speaking) ally.
What if your opponents chose also Scotland/England?It's a very popular pick. Then the region would be partitioned and it would be up to the team whose third person has the better picks.
Really, this map is 80% picks and 20% skill.
