Bill Gates did finish his school - he didn't finish Harvard. As ToBad pointed out that does not make him a bad programmer it just means he entered the real world and put his considerable skills into practice in the business world as opposed to continuing in the academic world.

But he definitely finished school. He finished school with a massive SAT score - which allowed him to be accepted by a college as prestigious as Harvard.
