Haha chill out man, I was only messing around. Also, I don't think "Hong Kong people" is racist for two reasons.

First, "Hong Kong people" isn't a race. That's like being "racist" against Americans or Germans. By the way, the people in Hong Kong are very friendly and helpful, it's the place I dislike, not the people.

Secondly, "Hong Kong people" are, for the most part, ethnically Chinese. Sure, it is an ethnically diverse place, and to say all Hong Kong people are Chinese is clearly false, but your "country" is essentially Chinese. You speak Cantonese, the majority of you can trace your ancestry back to the mainland. And to say I am racist against Chinese people is ludicrous.

In summary, get over yourself. This is one reason Hong Kong people are so disliked in the Mainland, you are too proud of being from Hong Kong, a fascinating part of the glorious PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA.

I don't like Hong Kong. It is crowded, expensive, and ya'll drive on the wrong side of the road. Do I dislike the people? Not really, unless you count the people in charge of the "country", for their draconian laws. Although, given how sensitive you people are, it is not really gaining traction with me.

What is "race"? Are you a separate "race" from Mainland Chinese? Or, for that matter, from human beings in general? Not really.

Again, I never really said I disliked Hong Kong people, except for the initial joking comment. Sure, I dislike Hong Kong, as I dislike the lack of freedom I enjoy in the PRC. But again, I have always enjoyed the attitude of every Hong Kong person I have met. Until now. Perhaps I should chalk it up to the fact that you are a child?

They seem to like the Hong Kong doctors and midwives though, don't they? Flooding across the border to give birth, leaving pregnant Hong Kong women struggling to find a hospital bed, then swiftly heading home again once the right to a Hong Kong education and passport is secured.

Not to mention the spitting, littering, queue jumping... and of course the buying up of property that pushes mortgages and rent prices out of reach of many locals. They even went over the border and emptied the shelves of milk powder when their own supply was unsafe, all of which causes no ire whatsoever with the Hong Kong folk...

The dislike is very far from a one way street.

Anyway mate, I'm supposed to be retired but I was having a look at the forums in a moment of boredom, saw this and decided to pick up on some of your points, just because it was you really. Anyone else, I probably wouldn't have bothered! Then maybe I got a bit carried away and took it out of proportion but I've written it now so I'm not going to just delete it.

But they DO drive on the wrong side of the road, plain and simple.

I never said the dislike between the Mainland and Hong Kong was a one-way street, that would be silly. Of course Hong Kongers have legitimate reasons for disliking mainland Chinese. Some of these are valid reasons, such as the women giving birth to children there (although clearly Hong Kong is complicit in this, these women aren't sneaking over, for the most part), the less than proper manners (once saw a massive fight break out at the Lohuo crossing because of this) and the buying up property, thus raising the property values. However, I completely understand the baby formula thing. If I found that my baby could have serious medical problems due to Chinese formula, I would do anything in my power to rectify the situation.

As far as the laws are concerned, of course I understand that in terms of freedom of speech and peaceful protest, Hong Kong has the right idea, although how much longer that will last will be interesting to see. How long were they guaranteed their unique sovreignity, 50 years or 75? Either way, I am interested to see what will happen when that time runs out. I meant too many laws in terms of my daily life. I love it that I can do almost anything I want to here, although that might be due more to the fact that Yangshuo police are the laziest people on the planet, and not a difference between Hong Kong and the Mainland in general.

In summary, go back to retirement. It suits you, mate.

For starters, mate, it IS the first time I have been accused of racism, on the forums, at least.

Secondly, you never responded to my point that HONG KONG IS NOT A RACE. You are Chinese, and even THAT cannot be considered a race. Maybe, MAYBE, you could make the argument that Asians are a race, but I would disagree. Chill out man, I was joking in my initial comment, and I have never disparaged any race.

I don't have an opinion on Hong Kong, as I live in the US and have lived there my whole life but it sounds to me like Texas John simply stated that he didn't like Hong Kong and gave good reasons and Nike and RetiredTeam overreacted alot. Are all people who live in Hong Kong this touchy or is it just these couple guys?
