Thank for the link to the Warlight dictionary. Quite helpful. If I had seen it earlier, I would have avoided asking some stupid questions (felt like an idiot when I asked an opponent what gg meant and then asked him what gl meant!)

Still don't know what Alt stats are. Anyone?

How would you get a new player to read the guide?

By pointing them to it when they ask a common question?

I imagine it isn't a matter of getting players to read a guide as much as having one (or some) available for players who would like to read and learn more. Such things would cut down on frustration and help raise the level of play for everyone. As for those new players who won't read a guide, "no harm, no foul." The site is no worse off than before.

so what's a PE?

to answer the thread, i remember sze wrote a guide at some point, i have no clue where the link is anymore. and another was also working on one (i believe GG was mentioned, and that might be correct), also no clue where the link is anymore. The warlight wiki itself also has some basic hints. Then there are the WGL series, tournament live streams with live commentary, that give out some tips to newbies and pros alike. That would be the best guide to improve your game skills at this point imho.

I think the issue is not so much that guides don't exist, but that it is hard for new players to find them.

^^ Yes to Beren Erchamion and Psycho_Lady. (and all the commentators who hopefully show Fizzer that it would help new players stay with the game). I hope he reads this and implements something. If someone better at that stuff than me could make a uservoice that would be amazing :)

OK, I've done some research and I'd like to check the accuracy of my conclusions. I saw in a post, something like "your Alt stats may be a better way to tell your ability ..." I couldn't figure out what 'alt stats' is. Further, I wasn't sure if I had any. After some searching I think what it means is as follows. The person in question has 2 (or more) accounts. Any but the first account are considered alternates - thus alts. The win rates generated by an alt account are therefore "ALT sats"

Am I right, do you think?

Nope. He just missed out the 's.

He meant that you are an alternate account. He meant to say your alt's stats.

Probably used mostly in diplo games. So that explain why i don't know this one (and maybe same for ps).

got bored on a slow playing role play story game once :P didn't ruin the role play though. :)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't know what a PE was. Just playing my first diplo now so I don't think I've been one yet.

Somehow I'm not all that surprised that this thread is on it's way to being archived ... But I'll resurrect it one time and ask Fizzer. Do you not think this would be useful to new players?

Fizzer doesn't tend to reply to the community any more :/
