Strategic 2v2 is also a good idea
I heavily advise against that, bad templates will enforce some bad habits. Strat 1v1 (reduce luck to 0%)+ europe 3v3 is my recommendation. Also there are dozens of hours of old wargaminglive events on twitch, we have done a lot of analysis during 90+ weeks and almost 200 events.
As far as analysis goes, external perspective is always a good idea, but you always have to focus more on your own analysis. If your analysis is objective and you focus on eliminating your mistakes, you will see progress quickly.
Thanks for the advice, sze! If I read your message correctly, you're implying that strategic 2v2 is among the bad templates that enforce bad habits? Pardon me if this is an idiotic question. I always thought that strategic 2v2 was close enough to strat. 1v1 that many rules of expansion and starting picks were similar enough that playing strat. 2v2 with a person new to Warlight would be beneficial to them--teaching not only the intricacies of Medium Earth but also good teamwork.
