from which 58% wanted to reduce to 3 min/turn.

So additional banked time HAS TO be added, the only question is whether to reduce time to 3 or not.


"5min" and "5min+banking" ARE DIFFERENT. You can't just join them only because they have something in commom...

- people who don't care
- people who want to have at least 3 minutes to commit orders,
- people who want to have at least 5 minutes to commit orders,
- people who want to have more than 5 minutes to commit orders.

reducing to 3 minutes, while over half of the people feel they need 5 minutes or more is just plain ignorance at poll result analysis.

I was one of the 'reduce time' votes, but I do agree it seems the majority does want 5 minutes. Perhaps we could only keep that on LD ones?

ME and MME are basically the same map with only a slight difference in how they are played. Should one have been removed from voting im sure that because of how similar they are it's voters would have voted for the other ME map.

54 votes for an ME map, while only 50 for FE. So the 2v2 ladder should stay the same.

no summer. they are different. voting about how much time you need to move is totally different. i am surprised you don't see it..

@beren: there are 2 LD templates in and only 1 (with the Light Fog) got voted out so Turkey LD still remains in the list

About the boot timer i personally prefer the 5 minutes so you can still make changes while like said before with 3 minutes that is already much harder to do. I'm a pretty fast player myself when i play RT games but i rarely join games with 3 minute boot or lower. I only join them when i'm sure that i can take turns on those setting in the given time on the map it is played on and with RT ladder i don't really think it would benefit fast boot settings on most of the templates that are in use now with the changes.

I agree with 5 minute boot times because while more people voted for 3 minutes, a majority of people voted for the 5 minutes or more. Definitely can't do more when more voted for less, so your best option is to keep it the same.

And for summers idea, she is completely right, mme/me would have won if only one of them was an option.

So either both should be changes, or neither.

@wakanarai, you're right that Turkey LD didn't get voted out, but games on that template tend to to be less than 10 turns in length anyway since the map is so small, so the length of the game in that case is no more than any other template. My understanding is that people were generally complaining about the possibility of games on the MME LD map dragging on forever.

RT ladder being changed to 3 minute boot ensures I will never ever play the RT ladder again. Though that said, I also vowed to never play it until the being-matched-up-an-hour-after-you-join-then-getting-booted thing was fixed, and there seems to be no push to fix that.

These polls are certainly not scientific and the results could be interpreted in different ways. Poll design is actually quite difficult.

Fridge and Summer both show examples of how you could combine multiple poll options and then argue that the sum outweighs the other options. In theory this could be correct, however the data does not conclusively prove the theory. Only further polls could.

There's all sorts of examples that you could argue should be combined. You could even combine Final Earth and Heavy Earth's numbers since they both contain Paraguay. 72 voters voted for maps with Paraguay versus 54 that voted for maps without it, so clearly Paraguay is very important to voters, right?

Could that be true? Yes, it could. However, the data doesn't conclusively show whether voters voted for those maps based on Paraguay or based on some other factor. There's no way to be sure based on this poll data.

I present this as a silly example to show why combining poll options is a guessing game. You have to try to guess why someone voted for what they did.

RT ladder being changed to 3 minute boot

It's not being changed to 3 minute boot. It's being changed to 3 minute boot with 5 minutes initial bank, meaning that you can actually take 8 minutes for a turn if you want. It's possible you knew that and were just omitting it, but everyone is focused on the 3 minute thing so it might be easy to miss that.

Excellent I definitely prefer this change.
