New and perhaps last map - Alpha stage: 1/15/2015 23:11:41

New map based on Medieval Britain/England. At its current state it's 818 territories and so far 261 bonuses. However this could be changeable from the following points:
•Should I include Scotland? I was originally, however I'm now at 1,181kb.
•I might fit Scotland in but then it would look odd without Ireland! I definitely can't fit both in without losing any quality.
•I will be changing the small London City mini map
•Are the castles better with a motte or stone grey? You can see an example of a motte in the most northern county.
•Is it essential to include Bridges or can I get away without? I think I would need to have bridges, if I were to cut the amount of connections over rivers.
•Should I add an additional territory for each city next to the map to indicate the current Duke, same goes for the King and London. Whoever controls that city also gains the title. Though is this ruining the playing side?
•Boats?
•New name? A bit boring. If I don't include Scotland or Ireland, I'd have to change it to England anyway.

Here's the alpha: https://www.warlight.net/SinglePlayer?PreviewMap=36955

Things I need to do:
•Add a heck of a lot of territory names! Why didn't I do this while I was going along :(
•Change all the bonus values
•Try and finish the rest of the connections, I know there are some missing!
•Add the rest of the super bonuses
•Add extra custom scenarios and distributions
•Design and artwork (Depends on file size). If I didn't add Scotland? Ireland? I would have better artwork/design.
•I may add a key of the typical shapes and territories on the map

Lastly, feedback of above and suggestions would be appreciated! I need tester for alpha, who's interestead?
Thank you, Apollo.

I'll test for ya. Try an 8 player diplo for this one.

ALSO: Maybe add northern ireland, so you can move around more easily. Or canals and boats.

No, diplo is for people who want to have fun, not just be competitive.

P.S. Who made the World Nations 2014 map, which is often used on diplos....

It looks awkward with Scotland whited out. If you White out Wales, it might look better. Or you can add Scotland.

For the city/castle bonuses, you should just move them all to the left. People will understand that each is worth 1.

List of Problems
1) Berwick-Upon-Tweed would have been part of Scotland back then.
2) The Isle of Man would have been part of Kingdom of the Isles.
3) Some of the places you've used as names wouldn't have existed back then as they were built after WW2 (such as Milton Keynes, Stevenage, etc. see this Wikipedia article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_towns_in_the_United_Kingdom)
4) You seem to be using historical counties, but with some ceremonial county boundaries. If this is medieval, please stick to historical counties. (i.e. the Hampshire-Dorset boarder should be slightly further west to include Christchurch in Hampshire, as it was back then, unlike today)

Also, would you give an approximate year in which this was set? Just the word 'medieval' is a bit vague.

Hey thanks for your input, but you are actually wrong on some of these points:

1) Several times possession of Berwick changed hands between the two kingdoms. Its just all the maps I've researched all have had Berwick-upon-Tweed in England.

2) True! But I've included it because I will probably be adding Scotland.

3) Well you are right but, you need to look closer into it. I've tried to look at every territory to see if it dates back, though im bound to have missed some. Take your example of Stevenage. Also just because it says new towns, it doesn't mean its been built out of nothing. Most of them were actually existing, but were developed.

Stevenage (just look at the history): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stevenage though that doesn't mean it was called Stevenage! I think maybe Stigenace? but that's going back to the Doomsday book.

Milton Keynes: This city you are right, but its one of the only ones. Thx for notifying me on that one!

4) Yeah just looked that up more closely. However I'm pretty sure its accurate in most places, except Christchurch. However because its better strategically like this, im gonna keep it this way.

Time period is literally medieval, to open up the amount of Scenarios that can be played on it. More specifically I guess 12th century to the 15th Century. I went along with the 12th century when researching castles built then. But the counties stayed the same for that period anyway.
