This is exhausting. Racism has not much to do with races, then rather with social groups. The jews arent a race either. Racism consists of prejudice and discrimination based in social perceptions of biological differences. It is meant to prove superiority by condemning and debase social minorities, that dont fit in the superior ideology. you can also call it xenophobia, if you prefer that. It is exactly what you are doing by stating homosexuality is a crime (and before you tell me again, that it is a crime in several countries, have a look at my former explanation...).

I honestly can't tell if the bad grammar is throwing off your true meaning or if you really are that ignorant of these topics.

Racism:
noun
the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.

So again, Racism is the belief that one RACE is superior to another. Homosexuality has no place in a discussion about racism. And for your information, Jews are typically considered an ethnic group/race.

"Prove superiority by condemning social minorities"

By your logic any organized group could be called a race.

Xenophobia:
noun
intense or irrational dislike or fear of people from other countries

This also has nothing to do with homosexuality. Gays are not a race. Stating the fact that homosexuality is illegal in some countries (Which is a fact, what is your problem here? Are you scared of this little fact?) is not racist.

When Rome took over Europe, most of the wealth was coming to Rome and regional capitals and urban areas. That's it. Most people who were rural were just the peasants who were a foundation for the wealthy and the Legions. Life was pretty cruddy.

Urban peasants got baths and gladiatorial games. So their taxes went to health and entertainment. Oh and aqueducts. They also got to keep their culture.

But then, wait for it, the Huns (okay a whole bunch of other barbarians too) rode in with fancy horses skills and steppes language and barbarian meal etiquette and ghetto bows and Seaxes and etc. and they're all "Oh cool, liberation from a tyrant! Yay! Go freedom train, go!".

they just wanted booty. Didn't care about liberating.

Barbarians were already integrated, assimilated and added a cultural portion to the Roman Empire, and what it meant to be Roman was liberalized and misconstrued every day. The Roman Auxiliaries are the best way to express this: The Barbarians they had just fought were now literally fighting for them. Dafuq?

The Goths warred rome because the Huns were coming. Rome had enough and just said "here have some land but intern fight for us" a 50/50 deal. That why they went from enemies to auxiliaries.

Barbarians were never AT the gates. Barbarians were the people INSIDE the gates! The Barbarian invasions were just a formalization of the fact.

Some were in some were out.
Lombards, Lombardi, visi-goths, ostrogoths, Franks, picts, Huns, Sassanids, We're all outside the gates All ready for attack.

I must say though, you people are very, very biased Rome lovers! What did Rome do besides... okay, I guess I can understand why you like them, but Greece? Why the hell would you like them? They're just a bunch of crackpot theorists who fight each other all the time for no reason! Compare that to an Empire of religious freedom, regional autonomy that is the Achaemenids of Persia. I'd love to be Ephialtes; he was right to betray Leo.

Rome had religious freedom(except christianity for a time) and regional autonomy.

Greece advanced in philosophy, architecture, science, warfare, government. Their whole culture advanced the world.

The dark ages was a lost of interest in the arts and sciences. The Renaissance was the revival of this.

What about the rural peasants? Point still valid.

You misread that statement. The peasants were saying " go freedom train go".

Lucid, your point on auxiliary still doesn't denounce it. Barbarians were fighting for Rome instead of true " Romans". Without loyalty, what is an army?

(Nothing about barbarians at the gate since we had the same page there)

I was comparing achaemenid Persia to Greece, not both. Besides, that was just the tip of the iceberg for Persia's many contributions to empires.

Greece's culture of constant barbaric fighting (ironic, they coined the term barbarian) influenced nothing outside of the Mediterranean. Look at China.

" Dark Ages " was just everybody agreeing " Wow, things never really were good at all. "
" Renaissance " was just a bunch of elites and nobles saying " Wow, things were really that good! "

Responses to my profile

Pardon, but what about my picture? It's genghis the khan from civ 4.

Chinggis is a term the general public doesn't know squat of. Best to keep it simple and plausible. Besides, it goes with the image.

hey smart ass, it doesnt matter if you write big letters or not. There is no need for discussing the meaning of these words, which only describe my impression. In my opinion you are racist. Thats it, and I really dont care if you agree with my understanding of this term or not. You are hiding behind stupid quibbling instead of explaining yourself.

Well your opinion is wrong. I'm not a racist because I believe all races/ethnic groups are equal. I have no explanations to give to someone who doesn't even know what racism is.

Also, good job on getting mad when someone corrects you.

China is a world away. Greece still influenced many cultures.

You didn't state loyalty as an issue. You stated that they were enemies and now they fought for them.

Greece also contributed to empires.
