Question: What country do you think will become a Superpower in the world in the near and far future?

Personally I think Canada has potential to become one due to its geographical positioning, its alliances and good relations between many countries, its resources and advanced technology (when compared to other countries).

Canada? No. xD China will be the biggest superpower on our planet. Countries like USA (only if Texas doesn't leave them), India and Brazil will be following them. In Europe there is a possiblity than new countries can become regional powers instead of Russia.

China is already the Superpower in the world, just we haven't seen it yet. If the EU successfully leave US axis, and start defending its own interest, as he seems to be doing, they have also future, but only if they ensure peace between them for as many years as possible.

Anyways, Canada can't be a superpower. It has one of the highest life standards, but its relatively low population (even Poland or Ukraine have more population than them) and British/US hegemony in the country don't let much place to expand in the future, I think.

Once I'll have listed 10s of countries, I may remember Canada on 78th place, somewhere between Nicaragua and Swaziland.

The thing is, the only reason Canada has such a low population is because of its cold climate. If Global Warming is not stopped, many countries will become uninhabitable due to water shortages and drought.
Luckily for Canada, the temperatures would increase to a more habitable temperature, therefore increasing immigration. Also Canada pretty much has the largest supply of fresh water.

Antarctica has the largest supply of fresh water (its just frozen)
If you're only counting countries, then Brazil is first, followed by Russia and Canada

Ha Texas is its own country

In my head a superpower is a nation who survived most of the century. Germany was powerful up until after World War II. How can a country split in half and owned by Russia be considered a super power?

Why are people considering Texas a world power. It's vital to America, but it has a lot of crap going on.

Ie

Save the wetlands.
Current governor.
Etc

It does have good farmlands, is relatively unaffected by the droughts and has a positive tax-debt ratio with the us though. Pretty good 25 million population, size of a European country average and a very rich local culture though.
