I love the Abandon card!!

Is there a more accurate phrase than "Defensive Feint" that refers to the act of luring your enemy into a trap by feigning retreat? If so, that could be a viable alternative since it not only emphasizes that you'll be retreating from a territory but also makes it clear that your retreat will result in possible damage to your opponent.

However, I think a defensive feint is also a valid- although possibly uncommon- move within WL (beyond just playing a card- we've all faked retreats at one point or another) so that could get confusing.

^ I said more accurate, not more ambiguous. You don't always retain meaning if your simplification algorithm is simply replacing words with more commonly used near-synonyms.

I always thought "abandon" implied you rigged the place with traps and destroyed anything useful, like burning food stores and destroying bridges. Thus, the enemy takes heavy losses reclaiming the territory.

You said yourself, act of luring your enemy into a trap; I'm surprised you didn't see it. As for feint, that's just for momentary confusion, not necessarily a trap.

Scorch Card is a good alternative, Scorched Earth is too wordful.

Isn't there someone called Scorched Earth...?

More than defensive feint - defensive trap is, well, a trap; if someone has a big army going in to an equally sized abandon, they're going to be in trouble, and they didn't know that it was coming (in most cases).

I think just keep it at abandon

Scorched earth is still the best solution....

I like Sephiroth's idea=== a "Scorched-Earth Card". "Abandon" is so 'everlasting' to one's ego.

If it has to change I would pick scorched earth out of the options mentioned

"Brick Wall" Card?

"Booby Trap" Card?

"No Man's Land" Card?

"Wasteland" Card?


"Scorched Earth" to me implies cleared ground...
as long as you don't need anything from it,
food, wood, shelter, you can pass through rather easily...

However, "Abandon" implies many of the same things...

Trap is a poor word because unless you attack it, it was not a trap. At that point it is simply a barrier.

I don't really play with abandon, or airlifts as I think they ruin strategic games to have pre-move troop movements.

Abandon isn't that bad name for the card, as you clearly abandon your territory.
If you want to include some further information, what about "Fortified abandon"?
