Don't overrate this map, it's only ok. It will take you 50 hours to make any kind of diplomacy, and the balancing of countries are off. It has good looks, that's the only real advantage this has.

While that is one big advantage, I was unable to do anything really fancy with the looks due to severe file size problems I encountered basically from the beginning. The only thing my map has that WN doesn't as far as graphics goes is a blue background.

I would rather consider that for the most part, my map has the upper hand in the fact that it's much less eurocentric than world nations, particularly in Africa and south america.

For Example, World nations only gives Sudan 1 territory, Whereas on my map it has 11. This is pretty much the case for any african nation, which with few exceptions like DRC and Nigeria are only represented with either one or two territories on world nations.

I think that Africa was already over-represented in most sites (but under-represented in some others, like Nigeria). The problem with World Nations 2014, also, was that it included these (more) god-useless islands and overpowered them.

World Nations 2012 was also sucky about balance, but it's way easier to change - it's 300 lands, not 1,100.

A list I made a while ago of 20 countries over/undereperesented in the map. Maybe I'll do one for your map, too. (-) = too few territories, (+) = too many

World Nations 2012:

China: ---
India: -
America: Ok
Brazil: -
Japan: -
Russia: Ok
Nigeria: -
Germany: -
Britain: -
Mexico: Ok
France: Ok
Indonesia: Ok
Vietnam: Ok
Turkey: Ok
Phillipines: Ok
Hanguk: ---- (most underepresented country - just one land?)
Italy: Ok
Iran: Ok
Spain: Ok
Pakistan: -

Overall:
East Asia: -
North Asia: +
Indochina: +
Oceania: Ok
India: -
Middle East: Ok
Europe: -
North Africa: +
South Africa: +
North America: Ok
Middle America: Ok
South America: -

Ok, I'll work on it later, it's a bigger and newer map that needs more analysis to specify stuff. Some rough things I see without analysis, though:

Overepresented:
Canada (+++++)
Argentina (+++++)
Mzansi (+++)
Indonesia (++) (and make Java more weighty, relative to the list of Indonesia)
Iran (++)
Spain (++)
Egypt (++)
Russia (+)
Thailand (+)

Underepresented:
Japan (----)
Nigeria (---)
Germany (---)
Vietnam (---)
Hanguk (---)
Pakistan (--)
China (-) (but take off weights in the west)
India (-)
Tagalog (-)
Italy (-)

Ok:
*America
*Brazil
*Britain (but lay off the unweighty islands)
*Mexico
*France
*Turkey
*Egypt

Love it. Just one, tiny problem...

It takes a very long time to assign territories.

Besides that, it's a very nice map. I also like the blue background, as usually on Imperator maps the dark blue player is hard to see. Sometimes its odd to see the Pacific so empty (Issander's Huge World *cough*), but it's interesting.

I think Canada in particular should have a bit more division in territories . It seems much weaker than it should.

Well to be fair, Canada has less people living in it that a lot of cities do.

EDIT: Only Tokyo has more people.

Canada has 35.16 million people living in it, Tokyo in Japan has 37.83 million people in it.

Edit: The state of California also has more people in it.

Tokyo does not count. LOL
Canada has more inhabitants that the average European country. It seems overvalued like hell, but meh...

While I do really like the map, I'm kind of bummed about the USA downgrade and the map could really use country bonuses for easy scenario creation, similar to my Europe map.

I may add them in when I do an update. It's honestly not too bad, but They would be kind of useful.

I think it was a fair update to remove most of the US territories. The US is still the most powerful country even after having around half of it's territories removed, it's just that it now only has around 100 more income than china compared to around 300 more before.

Ha ha, it was the most overepresented country here, and it was in 2012. It's a well-developed, resourceful country, but noone lives there.

Java has about 5 times the population about Canada: Java gets 3 territories, Canada gets 20.

Anyhow, here is a rough list of overpowered/underpowered countries now (income).

Overpowered:
Canada (+++++)
Spain (++)
Mzansi (++)
America (+)
Russia (+)
France (+)
Turkey (+)
Iran (+)
Thailand (+)

Underpowered:
Nigeria (----)
Vietnam (---)
Hanguk (---)
Germany (--)
Tagalog (--)
Argentina (--)
India (-)
Pakistan (-)

Ok:
*China
*Brazil
*Japan
*Mexico
*Britain
*Indonesia
*Italy
*Egypt

For greater realism i most of the time use GDP (PPP). That way China and the US are on par (in reality, an all-out war would be unimaginable, considering key war industries: China produces more steel than the rest of the globe combined)

I already gave the US a major nerf once, originally it had something like 3 times as many territories as it does now (Here's an older version of the map: https://www.warlight.net/Play?PreviewMap=53200).

I've been thinking about doing an update and just cutting every bonus value in half. That could solve the problem with incomes between poor and rich countries being so drastic.

I hate to nitpick but why is Roanoke the name of the bonus for western NC when it is actually farther east than Raleigh?

No, that's far from the whole tale. Besides sources never being sure on that, most sources will say something like Russia and Italy having the same power...no, obviously Russia is way more powerful than Italy.

Well, it's helped balance things, but it's not a big enough nerf.

What are your sources? I always see Russia way ahead of Italy( and often with bigger numbers than Germany).
