So, the new AI probably won some tournament on how to beat other AI. I have been playing it a week or so now. It does play differently. The difference in that in a multiplayer game, it has less influence. The old AI did a better job of affecting the game.

The new AI does dumb things in multi-player games. It adds a guy here and a guy there in an attempt to protect some territory. That's great against the other AI, but lousy against people. It just gets in the way a little bit.

The Old AI used to effectively win games, as the humans fought. The new AI is not smart enough to do the same. The new AI is just a hassle. The old AI could be a force to be flee from.

I would like to see an option to use the Old AI instead of the new AI. I have numerous examples of how the old AI affected the game. I do not have a single example of how the new AI has done the same.

Given a choice, I would pick the old AI for my pure Risk-like games. The new AI may work better in bigger games, but less so in my games.

Please offer an option to use the old AI instead of the new AI.

Thanks

Is this a troll? (I honestly can't tell.)

The new AI is very glad in expanding, but this was a flaw in the old one too. I strongly doubt you would really like the old one back.

I can offer numerous examples of how the new AI is better. Also, the AI 2.0 is not finished yet, it will be improved on for at least the next month.

The new AI is already way stronger overall than the old one

Although I do agree with being able to choose which AI to use

Actually, no. The new AI is not very smart. It can only expand against those that do not care. It might be great on a big map, but on a small map it is useless. It breaks up it forces, and loses every time.

The old AI was dumb, but was a brute force approach. It put all it's men in a space an attacked the weakest link. That made a difference against humans. The new AI doesn't ever make a difference. The new AI goes from 2 to 4 guys. Maybe 2 to 7 with a card. Not enough to be useful in an attack.

To beat the new AI, all you do is add a guy here and there and then take it out country by country. The Old AI would randomly screw you with that approach. Again, a difference.

The Old AI used to affect the outcome. With the new AI, I have never seen it happen.

Well, that is how you beat the both the old and new AI. Also, it is true that the old AI had randomness added. Well a version of the new one also has this. (Available in Autopilot.)

Anyway, it is too early to judge it, as it is being updated and improved until the singelPlayer myLevels thing is out of Beta

I got Sanctioned in 4 different games immediately after the new AI went into affect and i wasn't even winning or adjacent in 3 of the games. It then sanctioned me in several other games since then, most under the same conditions... I swear it targets me!

Actually it might be possible that the AI targets you. Maybe the AI sanctions the first opponent in his opponent list and if you are the game creator you might appear first.

I totally agree. While the new AI using cards other than reinforcement is nice, the old AI still proved to be more of a challenge. Like you said, to beat the new AI, all you need to do is put small armies on each border and push it back. The old AI would dump its entire income on one space and begin a rampage that could be very unpredictable and sometimes take a long time to kill.

Unfortunately the new AI is a pain in roleplaying and diplo games.

the rather random use of cards is very annoying especially when card use is limited for special purposes. It would be great if the old AI could be still available in the game setting.

Sometimes I want to play against the old AI because I want to beat a stoopid AI into the dirt to express my feelings about life,
to validate that I can still at least beat the stoopid old AI, even if nothing else has gone right that day, or that week, or seemingly, that year...

and sometimes I have a template set up that I like, that involves beating up hordes of " zombie" / stoopid AIs that would be much more difficult or even impossible to do if I had to play against AIs that were even marginally smarter...

and the game should most definitely make it abundantly clear exactly what AI I am playing against in both single-player and multiplayer...

because as Sun Tzu taught us, knowing your enemy is more than half the battle.
