I find that the text facility in chat does not work properly on my phone. I am using a Samsung J7 (Android) phone and when I try to chat, the text that I have already written is not visible. This makes editing the chat messages, and in particular correcting typos very difficult.


This is also the case for my phone, Samsung Note 3. I thought I was the only one, so thank you for posting this.

I create a Game in Flash and can´t start it in the Unity app.so i miss the "Start Game" button.

You're right, that's a limitation. Sorry about that.

That message is trigged from push notifications, and there's a bug right now where push notifications are being sent more often than the should. I hope to have this bug fixed tomorrow. Sorry about that!

I noticed a bug when cancelling attacks where no armies are available for that attack.

I looked into this, and found it's the same way in the Flash version. So it's not a regression. Also, the attack won't do anything since there are no armies for it, so there's no harm in leaving it there. It's still something I would like to fix but it's a low priority for these reasons.

When using mobile (Samsung J7 Android) I have noticed that the games I create do not fill (real time and multiday). I have told fellow players that the game has been created (real time) but they can not find the game in the list of new games.

Unless you're using a Unity-specific feature like Commerce or Mods, this wouldn't act any differently than creating the game from Flash. Check the prereqs and such. In general though, if you want to play with specific people you should invite those specific people instead of adding open seats, so you don't risk randoms taking seats that you didn't want them to.

If the game doesn't have luck, then you need to use the attack/transfer dialogue (but only to see how much armies you need to take over).

I still need to figure out what the best way to present kill rates are in no-luck games. I don't like the no-luck graph that exists in Flash. Anyone have an idea on how best to present the data of how many armies to attack with in no-luck games? The goal should be to make it very easy for newbies to understand.

This is in Statistics now. This is necessary so that it's possible for mobile users to use it, since they can't ctrl+click.

Oh yes, team select is in statistics, that's ok, and actually it's quite useful as teams are grouped on the graphs now too :)

Can you make clicking on a territory select it, the same as in spectator mode? It's quite frustrating to have to keep switching to it. Maybe there's a reason, but finding out who owns territories while setting up attacks/deploying or viewing orders before commit is really frustrating.

As far as I can tell there's no reason not to show info when selecting enemy territories?

Can we also have a quick button when clicking players in the player list for private messaging them? Unless you want to force players to get used to the chat box method?

Since we are talking about statistics, I have a small request regarding the graphs. Presently when clicking the graphs, the default setting it to show Armies Controlled with Group Teams. Which is fine. But often I go to this window and change the settings to show deploys and then click back to the map. When I return to the graphs, they are once again showing the default settings.

IIRC in the flash version, when you return to the graphs, the setting are set to the last settings used. Could we have a similar behaviour on the Unity version? That is to say, if I look at deploys in the graphs, and then click to the map, when I return to graphs, it should still display deploys.

p.s. I am using my Samsung J7 (Android) to play Warlight.

I am not sure what you mean by custom ROMs. My Samsung J7 phone is out of the box, with a 16 GB memory card added. I have had it for a year, so there are a fair number of apps on it, but not a huge number.

Here are some screen caps so you have an idea of what I see.

Below is an example where I am writing some text with a spelling error. Notice my phone's spellcheck is picking up the spelling error

Now I have exited the text mode on the phone, and we can see the WarLight chat box with only a bit of text visible

And here I have sent the message and you can see the entire message, with spelling error, in the chat.

One thought that crossed my mind is that the text for some reason is coloured white as is the background. I have no idea if Unity can control the text facility on my phone, but changing the background to off-white would solve the problem.

I have this issue on Redmi 3S with MIUI. Don't know if it is custom or not, but personally i haven't installed anything. The text is there, if you select it then it will be shown, there are just white letters on white backgrounds, like described here:

I have the same chat problems as Gus squared on my Samsung J3.

I messaged Fizzer about this before. Don't expect this feature to come back :(

I hope the Ctrl+click functionality comes back, because without it, games which give additional armies per territory (like this season for example!) become much more difficult, since it is harder to know if you should take another territory to get an extra army or not.

Is it intentional, that you proceed to attack phase when deploying your last available unit via clicking, but stay on deploy phase when using the slider to deploy your last armies? (talking about the unity app)
Ideally it would auto-advance with the deployment slider too, but that's problematic. For one thing, advancing to the attack phase closes the deployment slider, so it would be weird to have it disappear by dragging the slider up.

I think it's a bad UX for those two actions to do different things. I definitely found it confusing.

Will you make it possible to configure push notifications? I want to be notified that it's my turn in a game, but I don't want my phone to vibrate/ring, and I don't want notifications when 2 days have passed since it became my turn. It is very annoying, so I have to turn notifications off entirely, which is not what I want.

By custom ROMs he means modified versions of Android. If you were using one you'd be very aware of it.

It seems like more devices have an issue than do not. At the same time though I don't think it's specific to a certain version of Android as it works fine on my phone but not on the Samsung J 7's both of which run Android 7.1.1.

Cool, thanks for the link. That might be a solution. I'll try this in the next update and you guys can tell me if it helped or not. It's difficult to debug these issues when none of the devices I own have the problem.

You're just trying to see the number of territories you control? This is in Statistics now -- try that out and let me know if there's still something missing.

The entire notification system definitely needs an overhaul, as it's pretty crappy right now. Basically it was e-mail only originally, then push notifications were bolted on, which means they aren't very configurable. This is something I've been wanting to fix for years.

I have some general advertisement complaints, mainly about placement on my Android phone. The main issue is that the ads appear at the top of the screen and their position prevents access to certain tabs. In particular when entering the game lobby, the settings tab is not accessible. The chat tab is only accessible if you turn the phone 90 degrees to landscape.

Also the game clock is hidden by the ad, and can only be seen by turning the phone 90 degrees.

As well, when I first start Warlight no ads are visible, although the ad placement holder is present (and transparent). The placement holder prevents access to the tabs.

However if I switch to another app on my phone without closing Warlight, and then come back, the ads appear.

If you want I can post screen caps.

Windows: Trying to test an unpublished map in single player. When searching for the map, the category "Your Testing Map" does not display my map that's in Testing Mode (the flash version of the site does show my map in the category.)

Hmm. Did you set it to Testing after you started the Unity app? If so, the Unity map be caching the old list of maps. Try re-starting the app and see if that fixes it. If not, let me know in a private mail thread what map you're trying to access and I'll look into it more.

The map popped up after I closed and reopened the app.

i always leave my computer on and i never close certain programs like firefox or discord. So i never close warlight, lol.

Its always on.

I'm always in.

It won't let me see my family.

A new version is out! This version is released to standalone + webGL only since there are a lot of changes and I want to get some testing on them. The next version will be released shortly, and will go to all platforms.

3.23.1:
- Started working on the UI overhaul. It's not done! Some screens still need to be done, or need adjustments.
- Quickmatch now supports real-time games. Select the Play Now button on the quickmatch page to start one.
- Added a sound that plays when picking territories.
- The quickmatch page now shows how many wins you need to unlock a new template/vote.
- Alt+Left Arrow now activates the back button of the current screne.
- The game's settings dialog's width is now limited to 800.
- Fixed a bug that could cause an error when loading a game by ID that doesn't exist. Thanks to dabo1 for reporting this.
