That hasn't been implemented yet.

Quickmatch is in my opinion just a ladder just at the beginning it was fast, but now it's just a multi-day ladder with a lower boottime.

It's not a ladder, there is no visible scoreboard or ranks.

It is a faster way to get multi day games so it's working pretty well atm.

The templates will be decided on by the community by voting.

Um, why not have just every single template there is? There's an unique link online for every template.

Does that mean that 1v1, FFA, and Team templates will have to compete for the 30 spots with each other, or does each setting have its own unique bank of 30 templates?

So far ffa is one of these 30 it seems. 4 castles ffa commerce is the 5th template

very happy to see this, will be a great feature!
would be nice boot time options will be eventually implemented, i know there is a certain portion of players, including myself that often have bursts of unexpected busyness in life that would be discouraged to use it with 25 hour boot
i could understand the quick-specific reasoning against it though
again, awesome work with this and commerce games too, both and new surprises to come will completely transform the game for the better

About boot times: Is it not possible to have 2 options, like "Give me a 25h-boot game" and "Give me a 72h-boot game"?

To view your rating, go to Quickmatch -> Templates.

The game descriptions show "match rating" which is used to match you with other players. It's a computed value based on multiple of your real ratings. It's most heavily influenced by the rating for that specific template.

Oh man this is great. Just what the game needed. Now there won't be dozens of real-time games that take hours to fill because the teams are already set up and the odds of winning as someone who didn't make the game are seriously reduced.

Can you get matched against a player on your blacklist?

Yeah and there will be no pre requisites ? Or some can be included in templates ? If so we would need close to unlimited template or something. Just an issue with selecting / excluding them.

Really great feature, but a few more questions:

What's the formulas behind the ratings? I seem to get +10 or -10 for a win or loss, but I've seen people having ratings involving decimals.

Is it possible to implement inter-country ratings instead of intra-country ratings?

How does the matchup system work? At times, it looks like you get a matchup instantaneously upon increasing gamecount or completing a game. Other times it can take a long time (maybe because there's nobody available). If it is instantaneous (or in a very short period), is the chance for a FFA really low? In extent to that; what does a higher or lower difference in matchup rating mean?

The slider for the amount of games on the unity client goes from 1 to 5 (and it has an input box next to it). What if you want to leave quickmatch? Can you manually put in 0 in the box next to it? And can you put in a higher number than 5 manually to get more matchups?

How will the template voting work? Can anyone vote or will you have some sort of 'template panel' which Clan League uses too?

just read the concept on the blog post. my initial reaction is that i like it.
i'm a bit weary on implementation, want to check it working and confirm everything is as user friendly as possible, but yeah, thumbs up!

Just turn off "Invite me to multiday games" for that case.

Currently, yes. Quickmatch ignores blacklist. Though I could see this feature possibly coming some day.

there will be no pre requisites ?

Correct. Quickmatch uses its own matching based on rating, it does not look at prereqs.

What's the formulas behind the ratings? I seem to get +10 or -10 for a win or loss, but I've seen people having ratings involving decimals.

It's trueskill, but the most you can gain or lose is +10 or -10. Right now there are few players so you're often getting matched with people with far away ratings, but once there are lots of people you should usually get somebody with a more similar rating and rating changes will be smaller.

How does the matchup system work?

It matches you based on a "match rating" which is computed, mostly based on your rating for that template. The idea is that this will be people's first exposure to new templates, so even if they're good on one template they shouldn't be matched against good players on a new template.

Also, it'll never start looking for a new match while it's your turn in a quickmatch game. This is why, even if you set the number of games at once to 5, you'll only get one at a time. Unlike the ladders which just dump 5 on you at once.

Also, the longer you've been waiting for a game, the greater range in rating the quickmatch system will allow. When you first start looking for a game it will match with someone with a very similar match rating, then the range grows over time.

is the chance for a FFA really low?

If multiple players waiting for a game with a 4-player template checked, the matching system will prefer the many-player template over a 2-player template. However, as you suspect, it may be rare to have this situation if they also have 2-player templates checked as those will start before 4 players accumulate.

The best way to start a 4-player template is for at least 3 people to check only that template. The 4th can have 2-player templates checked.

Even without doing that, it can start if the 1v1 match rating for a few people is far apart, so 1v1s don't start, but the ffa rating is closer together.

And can you put in a higher number than 5 manually to get more matchups?

You can put in a number up to 10. 10 is the real maximum.

How will the template voting work?

We can start talking about voting soon.

you....you just fixed stalling!

Can some variant of this be added to the traditional ladder? Say if a player has a game that has been waiting for them over 24h, then they don't get a new game.

That doesn't fix stalling at all. You can even take 1 bqck to back turn, get a game and uncommit again.
