It's funny how people (conspiracists mainly) moan and complain about their government. You live in a democracy, arguably the greatest democracy in the world and no doubt the oldest one. Countries in the Arab spring are having revolutions to overthrow dictatorships and to have the rights that you have and are taking for granted. The fact that you think you need to overthrow your government is hysterical, do you not enjoy the luxuries of driving on paved roads, going to school and getting an education, having legitimate healthcare, being allowed to vote in elections for the party you wish to be elected, running water, electricity, supermarkets, internet??? You have it so well off you forget what revolutions are actually about, but hey... lets demolish the government and throw the country into war because god forbid the president wants to establish stricter gun laws and deem it illegal to carry automatic rapid fire weapons which could arguably be for "protection"... A good analogy would be like taking a cannon to a fist fight. Really? And don't hassle me about being American because I am not...

And similarly in Ukraine we are supplying the rebels with arms, and stiring up resistance by playing one ethnic group against another, and then we have the balls to tell Russia to stay out and quit trying to take over the country. lol our leaders are a joke to those of us who know the real score.

Churchill, you're spouting nonsensical European propaganda. I don't like how I live in a country where owning a firearm is heavily regulated because criminals have guns anyways and if someone breaks into my apartment I'd rather not fight him head-on with a kitchen knife or baseball bat.

Gun violence in America is due largely to organized crime and gun nuts, but look at other countries with large numbers of gun owners (Canada?) where gun violence is quite low. It's largely dependent on the culture of social economics, imo.

In my defense, I'm one of the few people that has formal training in using/cleaning firearms responsibly and don't feel a need to go waving my gun around like I'm coked up on drugs. I think people should be properly trained and have their mental health checked regularly, so I'm pro-regulation, but not pro-banning.

I agree with you hauptmann, i'm not for an all-out gun ban since i understand that criminals will be able to acquire guns whether or not they are banned. I'm only saying to ban automatic guns which fire upwards to however rounds per minute. In a 2007 census, per 100 people in america it is average out that there will be 89 guns, no other country is even close to that statistic with Serbia being second at 58.2 guns per 100 people. Canada is around 31 per 100, which is still a fair number but i have to also agree with your theory. I don't think america will be able to reduce this number anytime in the near future or at all...

Mar 16, 2014The first polling stations opened in Simferopol Sunday for the referendum in which Crimean citizens will decide whether they will join the Russian Federation or remain part of Ukraine.

According to Crimean authorities, there are 135 registered international observers and over 1200 local observers monitoring the voting at ballot stations. Every voter coming to the station is checked for marks on their hands to prevent a person from casting their vote more than once.
