Mod for multiattack through own territory: 10/22/2019 07:08:37

Does anyone know if any existing mod permits multiattack movement through one's own territory?

I've always found it strange that you can across an entire map with multiattack as long as you're killing enemies or neutrals (which should be hard and strenuous) but get immediately stopped when you hit your own already captured territory (which should be easy to move through).

Combined with the limited move multiattack mod, I think this wouldn be a good movement mode. So you have equal ability to move units through your own captured territories as you do neutrals or enemy territories, but still limited so you can't literally scour the entire map in 1 turn.

Does this exist already perhaps?

The "attack" stops because it's a transfer to your own territory ;)

Haha - semantically speaking, you are correct. So essentially, the naming of move 'mulit-attack' became an unnecessary limitation on the concept itself.

So we need a new and better 'multi-move' mod that works how I've described. Or 'multi-attack and transfer' if you prefer. (;

If anyone created this, games could be infinitely long (until there are too many armies for Warzone to keep up), as each player still has a chance.

Something like this used to be possible back in the early WarLight days. But it really wasn't fun, so it was removed. If you dig through some old games you might be able to find them.

Haha ... I see the point you're making. That game is a great example of why unlimited multiattack in general is kind of a bad idea.

But I think limited multiattack + multitransfer is a different story.

Was there ever a limited multitransfer in the early days? eg: can transfer multiple moves within one's own territories, but only say 3 squares max. I'm guessing this was before the days of mods, and it was just an all or nothing unlimited multiattack/transfer Yes/No.

As long as it's limited, it seems like it'd be both fair, interesting and fun.

Right, but how would you limit it? Doing a set number of multi-transfers makes it hard to scale from map to map. Like, even 5 multi transfers would be quite useless on the bigger maps, but way to much on smaller maps. There is other options too, like each transfer reduces your army with X units (hence transfers are not free). But then you still need to solve commanders and varying army stack sizes. All this just for a horrible user experience that involves a lot of extra clicking.

Lets try to state the problem you are trying to solve. In my head it is "I have a lot of armies that are not on the front-line that I want to use to fight with now". I think this is solved already, if you use the airlift card. Less clicking, more intuitive and limited number of uses, makes this a good balance to the game. If you want a particular behavior, then maybe modding that card is the way to go? For example the Late Airlift mod does affect the game-play a surprising amount.

(And no, once Fizzer was made aware of unlimited transfer/delays I am pretty sure it was patched in the next update)

I'm assuming Krinid is talking more about using the multitransfer mod in conjunction with the Limited Multiattack mod that is already created.

Haven't played many MA games myself so not sure how good and beneficial this would actually be. In terms of making the mod, I probably should be able to make it if this is something many people want. I don't have time at the moment so it'd have to wait at latest a couple months.

This idea came to mind: paratrooper card. Plays like airlift card, except you can take the armies to any enemy territory too, even if it's fogged and not near you. It plays out like a normal attack or transfer. Is this already a mod?

No, but not a new idea. Seen the suggestion before on both the forum and user-voice. This could be a decent thing to add as a mod anyway at least.

TBest - The limitation would be the same as the Limited Multiattack mod, the host would set the # of moves, so it's up to the host to get it right according to the map.

Airlifts are an 'okay' alternative but are OP. As soon as you have airlifts in play, you can transfer from anywhere to anywhere regardless of distance (so then I'd be asking for a limited distance late airlift mod, LOL), but rather what I'm suggesting is that it's kept to a low number. But agree that late airlifts would be the better option.

I don't think it'd be that much clicking to use limited multitransfer, b/c you'd only need it when your units aren't exactly where you need them to be, which shouldn't be that often. And b/c it's limited, you can't just move across the entire map.

JustinR17 - You are correct, I'm thinking a Multitransfer mod to be used in conjunction with the Multiattack mod, or just a new Multimove mod that handles both.

goodgame - Paratrooper card is interesting ... I've thought of that as well ... and it makes sense, right? I mean, if you can 'airlift' units right over territories, well then you can drop them off along the way? Though admittedly it does change the entire nature of the game ... but I also wouldn't expect this to show up in many games, really more of a niche thing for unusual game settings, which is fine.

Probably a decent compromise on this idea might be a parabomber. A bomber jet flies over a territory and drops a bomb on it. Or maybe it'd be more like a bomb catapult, where the host decides how many territories away the bomb can be catapulted.

Justin - Didn't realize you were a mod maker ... I considered it myself but not sure I have the time for it either (and I've never made one yet, so first one is probably always the toughest). If you do make it - well thanks in advance.
