Oh, I thought that there wouldn't be smaller nations but regions :|... Anyways, I could invite 5 people from Croatia that I met on Warlight if it's needed.

CROivan:
The original idea was to have one team per country (at some point we even discussed having national competitions to see who would go on the team). But then it didn't seem to make much sense to have one team from the entire USA (300 million people) and one team from the Netherlands (16 million people)... and in theory one team from Monaco (if there's five people playing WL there). So, that's when we got things like Germany 1 and Germany 2.

Many countries did not have enough people to fill a team (in the first edition teams needed seven players minimum). That's when we started combining countries with few players into regions.

(Of course, the Dutch wanted to be special, and we used both systems. We entered Netherlands and Flanders 1 and Netherlands and Flanders 2... :p )

Anyway, if there's enough players to form a Croatian team, I think that's the preferred solution (after all, it IS called the "Nation's Cup"), but if you're short on players, try looking around and enter (for instance) an ex-Yu team or something. (I think all "combination" teams on the first edition consisted of neighbouring countries; if you'd really like to enter something like "Croatia and Seychelles", talk to Dunga.)

Well OK, I created a game for 5 of us Croats, so I'll just wait and see if they accept.

I think Italy team haven't 5 or 7 members.
So i could be added to another nation? if yes, like RvW say, we can do like Croatia and Seychelles?

These teams participated last time:

1. Norway
2. baltic States
3. Poland 1
4. Poland 2
5. Poland 3 (withdrew after round 1)
6. Netherlands and flanders 1
7. Netherlands and flanders 2
8. Canada
9. Brazil
10. China 1 (withdrew after round 2)
11. China 2 (withdrew after round 1)
12. Serbia
13. USA Central 1
14. USA Central 2
15. USA Great Lakes (withdrew after round 1)
16. USA East 1
17. USA East 2 (withdrew after round 2)
18. USA West
19. Italy
20. Britain and Ireland 1
21. Britain and Ireland 2
22. Switzerland (withdrew after round 1)
23. France 1
24. France 2
25. Germany
26. Israel
27. New Zealand
28. South America

The teams that withdrew will have their reasons for it, but without those teams there are 22 "active" teams. Those active teams unfortunatly have some inactive players, so also need to be filled up a bit. This is not a big problem because if it becomes 5v5 then the teams have to lose 2 players anyway.
If we are going to do brackets then we will need 32 teams. That is 10 more (or we cut down to 16, then we need to trow some away)
@Gnuffone, you see there is an italian team (with only italian players), try to contact them. (http://warlight.net/Forum/Thread?ThreadID=3864&Offset=180)

If the active teams all participate again we still need 10 more teams. The countries with 2 teams will most likely be able to make 3 teams now. (it used to be 7v7 so 2 players per team out, then you only need 1 more player) that would give us 5 more teams. If some new teams can be made or some teams that withdrew can come back to live and participate, then I think we can make it to those 32 teams.

Min, I don't think you should be so quick to say that existing teams "have to lose 2 players" (which also means two old teams won't automatically become three new teams).

The way I look at it is that one of the important lessons from last time is that having substitute players is very important. Since there are also players who prefer only playing 1vs1 (or, alternatively, only like playing team games), my recommendation would be to try for seven (maybe even eight?) players per team. Teams with "only" five players should probably still be allowed to participate, but actively encouraging teams to be as small as possible seems like a bad idea.

Look at last time: 8 out of 28 teams withdrew halfway through..., that's not good! And I think one of the reasons the tournament dragged on for so long is the enormous amount of time (and effort) it sometimes took to get (a set of) games even started. Don't you remember what a pain it was to get line-ups for each team every round? With spare players, that should be far less of a problem. And if we can keep the pace up a little more, it will probably also be much easier to keep people interested!
