@Ryiro: Good question. India is in the European region, countries east of India are not.

@Sirius: Yeah, I really would love for there to be enough people to split Asia into its own region, but I'm afraid there isn't. If the turnout is bigger than anticipated, I can make the split this season.

@ps: grumpy von grumpykins.

@Mablung: Idk. Off the top of my head, Pulsey and Qi.

@Memele: We're most likely not using coins in the second stage for this season. The question is to see how that would go over. As for the skype interviews, they're not 100% mandatory but there should be someone on the team able to do them. :P

I assume Australia/NZ count as East Asia, so you may get people like nich and Summer.

Correct, Oceania is also counted in the NA Region with East Asia :)

""" These are the rules for the 2nd Stage:

1. 2 real-time games will be played per week. Game 1 will be played before Wednesday. Game 2 will be played before Friday. Broadcasts will be on Wednesday and Friday, times to be decided."""

By when will you decide the time for this real-time game? I'm on the west coast and whatever time you decide will almost certainly fall during my work hours. Is there any way you could consider this real-time game to be played after 5 PM PST?

First, I am behind the idea of a Europe 3vs3 Championship (ladder too (sigh). But it seems you like to complicate things:

  • Multi-Day vs Real-time: 1st (good) reason to decline imo.

  • I second ps: Regional limitation sucks. a lot. If I want to play with Mablung. I can't. no way.

  • Will you organize one Championship every 4 years like football or Olympic games?
    Make those double elimination tourneys, single ones, in 1st Phase i.e

This formula is too restrictive if you want the good 3vs3 Europe players to join.

@Master of the Dead: in 4-5 days, when I have enough interested applicants.

@Anticon:

The Clan League consists of 11 tournaments that have 6 games each and 7 participants. The settings are multiday. Clan League A takes almost 1 year to complete. Okay now let's imagine we do this event all 3-day multiday with vacations honored. In Clan League, all of the tournaments are made at the same time. In this event, we have to first wait for the 1st tournament to be halfway done to proceed. Then we have to do a double RR. Okay. In Clan League, you play 6 Europe 3v3 games. This is what takes almost a year in group A. In my event you play 14-18 Europe 3v3 games in the 2nd stage. That's double the time. I could go on but I hope you see the point.

Regional limitations are a part of almost every World Championship Series in existence. Every e-sport that hosts a World Championship Series separates by region. The Olympics separate by region. The World Cup separates by region. The reason we separate by region for this event is two-fold. 1. It's more interesting and competitive. 2. It's far easier to schedule RT games by region.

I would love to host this event every year.

I get the reasons for RT, and playing RT is fun anyway. I'm just curious on the process for deciding times. As a full time worker with a wife and two kids, the time I can play a RT game is somewhat limited.

How long does a RT game of 3v3 europe take (when fairly evenly matched)? I suggest 3 min boot, with a bank to help us decide picks. That might take an hour or so to play?

If the setting is 3+5 a high level europe game can take from 10 to 25 turns. 3+5 is a bit short for a team game, but it's fine for me, I'd expect most games to take ~60-90minutes.

I was thinking boot times for RT could be like 5 + 5 banked + 20% per turn added to bank. What do you guys think?

For NA Region if I were to schedule a game to be around 7 pm that would be around 7-8 AM for Oceania, but it's likely that the RT phase will be done in the evening after the 9-6'ers are home. I'm sitting down with a timezone map figuring out how to make it suit both regions.

Can each RT game agree upon a time that works for all of them when their match-up is made? Does it need to be the same for all?

in the early turns you need more times then in the in the late, no point for ank 20%.
i would suggested 8 min boot, no banks.

No Autoboot please.... If the other team wants to boot them direct so be it... but I think both teams (if they are highly skilled) are respectful enough to give a few seconds to each other on occasion.

imo there have to be an auto-boot (same as direct) exactly for that reason^, banking boot should give enough time to avoid getting booted anyway. Imagine if you can play ~30 more min, then your opponent ask you to not boot since he'll brb.. Make it simple and just use auto-boot, that way it's equal for all parts. (could make booted players turn into AIs though, so you can come back after being booted)

I'd suggest a bit higher banked, but lower limit. for example 3 min boot, 15 min banked. Should be plenty of time imo

18 minutes is a lot but...

I agree that a low boot and a high bank is good. (I can agree with auto boot also)

picking will be very crucial and will require more time than in any other normal game

I don't like banking added. I suggest enough bank for early picks/moves (turn 1 will take a while just to discuss intel). Last thing you want is someone to bank a bunch of time and stall everyone late for no reason (i doubt it, but you never know). Like maybe 5 min boot with enough bank for picks/first turn. maybe a 10 minute bank?

As far as time of day, are you talking EST for that 7pm?

You can allow banking boot times that last only for X ammount of turns....

Perhaps 7minute direct boot with 8 minutes of banked boot (bankings last 3 turns)
